The Taiwan issue has been plaguing the Chinese people for a long time, and cross-strait reunification is the aspiration of the Chinese nation. But if we want to really solve it, the dilemma we face is not optimistic.
United States more frequent moves in recent years have emboldened the "Taiwan independence" forces, and the Taiwan authorities have relied on the United States to seek independence and resist the mainland in political, military, and cultural fields.
Some media in Taiwan have even arrogantly listed five conditions, and if they want to return, the mainland must agree to them, but these five conditions are clearly "overlord clauses."
Each of the five requirements reveals its true purpose
"Wind Media" is a well-known online news media in Taiwan that often expresses its own views on the cross-strait situation. At a time when the situation in the Taiwan Strait is becoming more and more intense and the world pattern is constantly changing, they seem to smell something extraordinary.
Since Taiwan's return is the trend of the times, how Taiwan will operate after its return has become a topic of common concern to the people on both sides of the strait, so Feng Media put forward the concept of "one country, three systems."
As we all know, the management systems implemented in Hong Kong and Macao today are not the same as those in the Mainland. "One country, two systems" originally included Taiwan, but Taiwan was not satisfied.
The so-called "one country, three systems" is another management system independent of the institutional systems of Chinese mainland, Hong Kong, and Macao, and they believe that after Taiwan's return to the motherland, it is not a subordinate relationship, but an equal relationship.
Therefore, the first requirement is to make Taiwan the "State of Taiwan" and apply everything of the "Republic of China" to the present, such as the flag, the "state song" and the "state emblem".
It is strange that there has never been a "state" in China, and this request from them is new. But what we need to know is, what kind of country will have a "state"? The answer is a federal state.
The representative countries of the federal system are: United States, Russia, India, etc. In a federal state, each state has its own sovereignty, but a portion of its rights are given to the federal government.
The mainland, on the other hand, is a typical "unitary system" country, in which local power is under the unified leadership of the central government and authorized by law, which is fundamentally different from the federal system.
Therefore, the "state of Taiwan" they proposed cannot exist at all, and there are only two ways in front of Taiwan, one is to fall under the jurisdiction of Chinese mainland and become a province of China; The second is to continue the "one country, two systems" principle and enjoy the same treatment as Hong Kong and Macao.
In this case, whether it is the flag, the "state song" or the "state emblem" that they imagined, will cease to exist, the Republic of China is in the past tense, Taiwan cannot be set up as a "state", nor can it continue everything in the past tense, and there is no room for negotiation at all in this demand.
The second requirement is that Taiwan's diplomacy should be in its own hands, and the mainland should not interfere.
In fact, Taiwan has been doing this for a long time. They have established so-called "diplomatic relations" with some countries in the world by various means, especially monetary means, and this is also the way Taiwan has changed its way in the hope that the international community will recognize their existence.
However, with the intensification of tensions in the Taiwan Strait and the Chinese government's tough stance in the international community, Taiwan has fewer and fewer "diplomatic allies".
During the Tsai Ing-wen era, Taiwan still had 18 diplomatic relations, but just this year, the number of Taiwan diplomatic relations remained only 12, setting a record for the lowest number of "diplomatic countries".
However, the "Taiwan independence" elements still do not give up and still want to establish the existence of a "country with diplomatic relations" after their return to China, and they are trying to use this as a condition to get China to recognize this, but they do not know that they do not have the right to establish a "country with diplomatic relations" at all.
There is only one China in the world, and the establishment of diplomatic relations between China can only be decided by the Government of the People's Republic of China; after the return of Taiwan, neither as a province of China nor as a special administrative region of China has the qualifications to establish diplomatic relations with other countries beyond its authority.
If a local government can establish diplomatic relations with other countries, what is the difference between it and the central government? Therefore, it is absolutely impossible to seize the initiative in diplomacy.
The third demand is to keep the original political structure unchanged after the return to the motherland, and change the "Constitution of the Republic of China" to the "Taiwan State Law."
In other words, Taiwan wants to retain its current democratic election and local autonomy systems, and change the original "president and vice president" to "chairman and vice president."
If this requirement is alone, in fact, the two sides of the strait still have to discuss, because the mainland's original conception of the Taiwan issue was "one country, two systems," and Taiwan can appropriately retain its original political structure, but note that it is moderate, not all.
All systems after Taiwan's return need to be approved by the central government, and we must ensure that Taiwan will not damage the interests of the country in the subsequent social operation, and the "chief and deputy leaders" are one of the conditions for non-compliance.
In China, there is no such thing as a "chief and deputy chief", some are just "chief executives", and the chief executive represents the abbreviation of the chief executive of the Chinese Special Administrative Region.
In terms of the "Constitution", they are even more delusional. China has only one constitution, the Constitution of the People's Republic of China.
Even if it is "one country, two systems", it is the local government that formulates local regulations on the basis of national regulations. The "Constitution of the Republic of China" has passed since the founding of New China, and the "Taiwan State Law" cannot exist, and as mentioned earlier, Taiwan cannot exist as a "state."
The fourth demand is that Taiwan retain its existing "armed forces" and change its name to the "Taiwan State Self-Defense Forces." The difference between this Self-Defense Force and the original one is that they no longer directly purchase weapons from abroad; They are independent of the PLA; Moreover, the "middle line of the strait" and the "air defense identification zone" originally divided by Taiwan still exist.
It is obvious that Taiwan still has wolf ambitions, and the so-called "Self-Defense Forces" are actually a product of distrusting the country and not cooperating with the return.
Under the influence of the "Taiwan independence" forces on the island for many years, it is very likely that some deep-rooted "Taiwan independence" elements will still have illusions after the peaceful return of the motherland, and the "Self-Defense Forces" will be a major variable at that time.
If Taiwan wants to return, then it must abandon the "army" and the central government will make reasonable arrangements for unified leadership. As for the "middle line of the strait" and so on, the existence of these things is illegal, and China has only one, and the rights of any place cannot be greater than or equal to that of the central government, and this demand is simply unreasonable.
The fifth demand is to restrict the activities of mainland people in Taiwan. This is out of consideration for the protection of the Taiwan people, the mainland has a large number of people and strong economic development, if Taiwan returns, there will inevitably be a large number of mainlanders pouring into the Taiwan market to do business or other activities, which will bring Taiwan a certain amount of trouble.
At first glance it makes sense, but this requirement cannot be realized. Because the people on both sides of the strait have one identity, that is, Chinese, and in China, there is no difference in this statement.
The idea of wanting to protect the people of Taiwan is good, but this also needs to be decided after consultations between the two sides of the strait, and I believe that the motherland will rationally formulate rules and give the people on both sides of the strait a plan for both.
Write at the end
The conditions they give are almost all "overlord clauses", which shows that their perception of themselves is still unclear.
Taiwan's return is an inevitable result, and on this basis, the mainland has given Taiwan full respect. What the Taiwan authorities should realize is that the initiative is completely in China's hands in what form of reunification and how Taiwan should operate after reunification.
Therefore, it is hoped that the Taiwan authorities will have a clear understanding of the situation and that peaceful negotiations with the mainland and reasonable demands are the best choice.
