PM2.5:

PM2.5 refers to particulate matter with an aerodynamic equivalent diameter of 2.5 microns or less in ambient air, also known as fine particulate matter and particulate matter that can enter the lungs.

The main source is the residue emitted through combustion in the process of daily power generation, industrial production, automobile exhaust emissions, etc., most of which contain toxic substances such as heavy metals. Generally speaking, PM2.5 mainly comes from the combustion of fossil fuels, such as motor vehicle exhaust and coal burning, in addition to some secondary derivatives of volatile organic compounds.

PM10:

PM10 is an inhalable particulate matter with an aerodynamic equivalent diameter of 10 microns or less, and refers to solid and liquid particulate matter floating in the air.

The main sources are industrial production, coal combustion, and dust from roads and construction sites. Others are fine particulate matter formed by the interaction of sulfur oxides, nitrogen oxides, volatile organic compounds and other compounds in ambient air.

How to prevent PM2.5 and PM10:

The main measures to control PM2.5 and PM10 include: strict environmental access, industrial structure adjustment, optimization of industrial layout, remediation of industrial pollution sources, energy structure adjustment (including the elimination of coal-fired small boilers, strict control of coal consumption, promotion of clean energy, etc.), construction site road dust remediation, motor vehicle exhaust remediation (including the elimination of yellow label vehicles, old cars, gas station oil and gas recovery, oil upgrades, promotion of clean energy vehicles, etc.), catering fume remediation, straw (garbage) burning ban, etc.

NO2 concept and source:

Nitrogen dioxide is a brownish-red, highly reactive gaseous substance that plays an important role in the formation of ozone.

The main source is the release during high-temperature combustion, such as the emission of motor vehicle exhaust and boiler exhaust gas. Nitrogen dioxide is also a cause of acid rain, with a variety of environmental effects, including effects on competition and compositional changes between wetland and terrestrial plant species, reduced atmospheric visibility, acidification and eutrophication of surface waters, and increased levels of toxins harmful to fish and other aquatic organisms in water columns.
