It is a great pleasure to participate in today's "Western Song" exhibition of nine people, and first of all, I would like to express my warm congratulations on the success of the exhibition!
Not long ago, I received an invitation from Chairman Wu Haicheng, and I was full of expectations for this exhibition. At nine o'clock in the morning, I arrived at the exhibition hall, and I had a sneak peek on the first, second and third floors. I feel that the level of the exhibition is very high, and more than 100 works are masterpieces, which is refreshing to see, and there are four highlights:
One theme stands out, and that is the "Western" theme. Whether it is Chinese painting, printmaking, oil painting, or calligraphy, all of them are created around the theme of the beautiful west, and there are few forks.
A story is told, and that is the western story. Mr. Wu Haicheng's large-scale prints created around major historical events such as the 98 flood and the 512 earthquake relief in the past few years, as well as the Chinese paintings that eulogize the spirit of the ethnic minorities in Northwest China, are all western themes; Chen Maying's prints are embedded with many abstract elements, which are still grasslands, eagles, and desert poplars; Mr. Yan Xunyuan painted the yak in the snow-capped mountains, and the female painter Chen Xia painted the characters of the Qiang nationality, etc., all of which excavated the western objects and told the stories of the western region.
There is a spirit that is promoted, and that is the spirit of the west. Including the indomitable spirit of the desert poplar, the spirit of attainment of all ethnic groups, the enterprising spirit of climbing Mount Everest, the fighting spirit of not fearing strong enemies and so on.
It has opened up a new direction of art research and creation, that is, the direction of western art. The western region is the spiritual highland of the Chinese nation. "The desert is lonely and the smoke is straight, the sun sets on the long river", "why should the Qiang flute complain about the willows, and the spring breeze does not pass the Yumen Pass" all occur in the west; The starting point of the Silk Road and the Southern Silk Road is in the west; Nowadays, the country has launched the "One Belt, One Road" strategy, and the west is the strategic rear, and its importance can be seen. Nine powerful artists represented by Wu Haicheng and Chen Maying will dig deep into the big topic of the western region, and in time, it is possible to form a "Western School", and at that time, you will be the originators of the "Western School"!
