With the approach of Typhoon No. 13 "Bebinca", the Xuhui District Greening and City Appearance Bureau moved to fully launch defense work to ensure the safe operation of the city during the Mid-Autumn Festival. Emergency response teams such as greening, forestry, sanitation and cleaning quickly assembled and went all out to deal with the upcoming bad weather.
At the Green Strip, staff went deep into parks and streets to reinforce the trees. Armed with professional tools, they carefully inspected each tree and reinforced 572 trees to ensure they were able to withstand strong winds. In some key areas, the staff also cleared 440 dead branches to reduce potential safety hazards caused by broken branches.
In addition, they also cleaned up 188 tons of green waste, kept the environment clean and tidy, and cleaned more than 300 drainage outlets to ensure that rainwater can be drained smoothly and prevent the occurrence of water accumulation. In order to further enhance the defense capability, the staff also lowered the water level of the park's water bodies by 5 in advance, and investigated 63 potential hidden dangers, making full preparations for the arrival of the typhoon.
The staff of the sanitation line are also busy. They cleaned up more than 600 tonnes of construction waste and pre-emptied more than 800 manure pits to prevent pollution during typhoons. In order to ensure the smooth flow of the drainage system, they cleaned more than 4,000 drainage outlets, cleaned more than 800 tons of household waste, reinforced 20 carports, and cleared 1,350 waste bins to ensure the cleanliness and hygiene of the urban environment.
The staff of the city appearance line is responsible for the implementation of the inspection of outdoor signboards, and a total of more than 1,500 outdoor signboards have been randomly inspected, and 5 hidden dangers have been eliminated; 373 outdoor advertisements and 251 landscape lights were inspected, and 2 hidden dangers were eliminated. These works ensure the safety and aesthetics of the city's public spaces, and provide citizens with a safe and clean environment for the Mid-Autumn Festival.
The District Greening and City Appearance Bureau said that during the impact of Typhoon "Bebinca", they will comprehensively strengthen the on-duty duty, pay close attention to weather changes, strengthen monitoring and early warning, and make effective emergency preparations to ensure the safety of the industry and the safety of the city's appearance and environment.
