Han Xiu - the courage to do things

Chang'an Song Lian Ji | Han Xiu - the courage to do things

Han Xiu (673-740), a native of Jingzhao Chang'an (now Chang'an District, Xi'an, Shaanxi Province), was the prime minister of the Tang Dynasty. Born in Changli Han, the system was promoted into the office, and was later promoted as virtuous, successively served as the left to fill the que, the lord of the foreign lang, the middle book of the house, the relocation of the Ministry of Rites, the history of the Zhouzhou Thorn, the Ministry of Worship Lang, the right of the book.

In the twenty-first year of Kaiyuan (733), he was recommended by Xiao Song, the Zhongshu Ling, to serve as the squire of the Yellow Gate and the Tongping Zhangshi, and became the prime minister. He was upright by nature, and he made several outspoken remonstrances, and because of conflicts with Xiao Song, he was dismissed as the secretary of the Ministry of Works. Later, he added the prince and young master, and was named the son of Yiyang County. After his death, he was posthumously presented to the prince and the governor of Yangzhou, and was nicknamed Wenzhong.

Yuzhou is located between the western capital of Chang'an and the eastern capital of Luoyang, and the emperor often moved through, and the grain and grass supplied to the driver were taxed very heavily. After Han Xiu served as the assassin of Yuzhou, he went to the imperial court and asked for an equal share of the grain to other states and counties. Zhongshu ordered Zhang Shuo to reject his recital, and said: "If you are exempted from Yuzhou, you will have to transfer it to other states, you are assassinating Shi for personal gain." Han Xiu asked again. The bureaucrat advised: "You will disobey the will of the prime minister." Han Xiu replied: "As a stabbing history, you can't save the people, how can you govern!" If I am offended by this, I am willing. In the end, the imperial court agreed to Han Xiu's request.

After Han Xiu paid his respects to the prime minister, Li Meiyu, the county governor of Wannian, was convicted, and Tang Xuanzong specially ordered him to be exiled to Lingnan. Han Xiu admonished: "Li Meiyu is just a minor official, and what she committed is not a big crime. Now that there is a big traitor in the court, and he has not been punished, how can such a petty official be exiled. Cheng Boxian, the general of Jinwu, was arrogant, greedy for money and profit, built houses and allocated cars and horses beyond the standard, and there were many trespassers. Please punish Cheng Boxian first, and then punish Li Meiyu's crime. Tang Xuanzong disagreed. Han Xiu insisted: "A petty official like Li Meiyu can't be tolerated, so how can a giant like Cheng Boxian not ask!" If His Majesty does not punish Cheng Boxian, the minister will not exile Li Meiyu. Tang Xuanzong thought that Han Xiu was sincere and straightforward, so he agreed to his request.

Han Xiu is upright by nature and often advises on the gains and losses of current politics. Every time Tang Xuanzong made a slight mistake, he asked the attendants on the left and right: "Does Han Xiu know?" As soon as the words fell, Han Xiu's advice had already been delivered. Later, Tang Xuanzong was sullen. The attendant said: "Since Han Xiu paid homage to the prime minister, His Majesty has not had a day of joy, why don't you belittle him?" Tang Xuanzong said: "Although I have lost weight, the country has become rich." Every time Xiao Song plays something, he will follow my wishes. After I retired from the court, I often couldn't sleep well. Han Xiu admonished me many times that after I retired from the dynasty, I slept peacefully. I use Han Xiu as a phase for the sake of the country's social welfare. ”

The incorruptible hate greed,

Believers.
