In October 2019, the Ministry of Education and other seven departments jointly issued a document to encourage and guide ordinary undergraduate colleges and universities to set up age-related majors such as home economics and geriatrics. Subsequently, in September 2020, Shandong Women's University and Shanghai University of Engineering Science became the first batch of undergraduate colleges in China to set up senior service related majors and enroll students in that year. This summer, nearly 100 undergraduates majoring in pension from the two schools graduated, becoming a "sweet spot" for many pension institutions and enterprises.

At this year's employment double election meeting of Shandong Women's University, 35 pension institutions and enterprises provided more than 400 jobs such as pension housekeepers and social work commissioners for 64 fresh graduates of Shandong Women's University in pension service management. At the same time, more than 30 pension service institutions brought more than 120 positions to the first batch of pension service management graduates at the job fair of pension service management major of Shanghai University of Engineering Science.

"The employment situation of our first batch of graduates is very gratifying, most of the students have entered elderly care institutions and enterprises, including some core positions in large enterprises, such as project management, marketing and other positions, and some students have chosen nursing positions. Although there are relatively few people who actually do management positions at present, students can enter the managerial positions related to the elderly as soon as possible after being recognized by the pension employer after taking root in the front line after the internship and being recognized by the pension employer.
