Beijing, June 9 (Xinhua) -- In order to continuously improve the public's understanding, recognition and support for the cause of human organ donation and transplantation, and to promote the spirit of organ donation and dedication, on the occasion of the fifth China Organ Donation Day, the China-Japan Friendship Hospital held the "Organ Donation, Relay of Life" outdoor walking public welfare publicity activity in the Olympic Forest Park on June 9.
Song Zhili, Secretary of the Party Committee and Vice President of the China-Japan Friendship Hospital, delivered a speech on behalf of the hospital. Song Li expressed his gratitude to the leaders at all levels and social benevolent people who supported the organ donation and transplantation work of the China-Japan Friendship Hospital, encouraged the transplant patients and their families, and especially expressed high respect for the organ donors and their families. The hospital will continue its efforts to create healthy lives for more patients with end-stage organ failure.
Zhao Hongtao, executive director of the China Organ Transplant Development Foundation, said that the relay of life walking form shows the vigorous spirit of organ donation and transplantation, which coincides with the concept of the foundation.
Zhang Tao, director of the Medical Administration Department of the Beijing Municipal Health Commission, said that in the past five years, the organ donation and organ transplantation work in our country have been greatly improved and developed in terms of laws and regulations, organ registration and donation procedures, organ acquisition and distribution systems, and organ transplantation technology. More and more citizens have joined the ranks of organ donation registration volunteers, ushering in the spring of the development of organ transplantation. Ma Xudong, director of the Medical Quality and Evaluation Division of the Medical Administration Bureau of the National Health Commission, said that as a unit directly under the National Health Commission, the Sino-Japanese Friendship Hospital has developed rapidly in organ transplantation and has entered the first national phalanx in a short period of time. I hope to better serve terminal patients, show exemplary and leading role, and contribute more to the cause of organ donation and transplantation in China.
Huang Jiefu, chairman of the Chinese Organ Donation and Transplantation Committee and former vice minister of health, expressed his ardent expectations for the China-Japan Friendship Hospital to become a national organ transplant center in the future. As one of the 9 hospitals in China that have obtained the qualification of four major organ transplants of heart, liver, kidney and lung, the China-Japan Friendship Hospital will play a leading role.
In order to encourage more patients to actively face the life after transplantation, the launching ceremony invited representatives of kidney transplantation and lung transplantation of China-Japan Friendship Hospital to share the mental journey before and after transplantation, and performed martial arts, drama and other programs.
The launching ceremony was held in the Olympic Declaration Square in South Park, presided over by Liu Yong, vice president of the China-Japan Friendship Hospital.
