Mark Jackson: The players are more athletic & more explosive but not smart enough

Former NBA coach Mark Jackson recently spoke in an interview with host Sharpe, talking about a topic, athletes compare between the past and the present, Mark Jackson believes that although the current athletes are more athletically talented and more explosive, they are not smart enough.

"The players now are obviously more athletic, more skilled, whether it's shooting or possession, more comprehensive, but there's one aspect that's not enough, the players today are not smart enough (basketball IQ)." Because I wasn't athletic enough, not fast enough, and not explosive enough when I was playing, I had to make myself smarter than the others on the pitch. I started studying the game when I was 7 or 8 years old, and no matter what kind of game situation you put me into, I know how to deal with it. That doesn't mean I got the answer, but it means I know what the answer is. I don't think the players are smarter now because they're so athletic, they can do anything, they're so explosive, they're so fast, so I don't think they need to rely on the intelligence and understanding of the game that we need to rely on growing up. Talent is a factor that determines how far they can go as players, but they must also have the wisdom to match their talents. Mark Jackson said.
