A glorious moment for the power grid people! State Grid is in the world
The third of the top 500, the social status of power grid people goes hand in hand with high salaries!
In July and August of each year, it is not only the time when a new batch of college entrance examination graduates enter the electrical major, but also the time when a large number of new employees of the State Grid who have successfully landed after many assessments officially enter the workplace. As a recognized "iron rice bowl", many new employees feel that they can lie flat after they go ashore, thinking that as long as they complete the tasks and assessments step by step. As everyone knows, "everything is difficult at the beginning", and the test that determines the future development has just begun! The following shares the hurdles that new employees need to pass in the process of job placement and some coping strategies.
01Induction training
After receiving the notice of induction, the human resources department of the municipal bureau will carry out a period of induction training for all new employees of the municipal bureau and county bureaus. The training content mainly covers the introduction of business processes of various departments, the sharing of advanced individual or collective work experience, and a series of office skills training. While many people find this content boring, and some even think they know more than the teachers, don't ignore that the seemingly simple onboarding is the first step for new employees to understand the company culture and adapt to the work environment. For most science and engineering graduates, you need to be familiar with the company's operating processes and master basic office skills in a short period of time, which will lay a solid foundation for future work.
02Interaction and competition all the time
From the beginning of the job, every new employee needs to learn with graduates from all over the world and major universities. In the seemingly calm classes and fun activities, everyone is actively striving for the opportunity to perform, so as to get a higher priority in the subsequent job placement process, which undoubtedly makes the competition more fierce.
As a new employee, if you want more opportunities, you need to be active in training activities, show your abilities and talents while constantly improving, and pave the way for future career development. In contrast, it may be relatively easy to choose an employee at a county office. Due to the relative independence of each county bureau and the different aspects of job determination, some places will be directly decided by the leaders according to the performance during the rotation period, and some will be comprehensively judged based on individual volunteering and rotation performance. But no matter what the atmosphere is, maintain a positive attitude towards learning, and make the most of every opportunity to show yourself.
03 Key people during the rotation
After a simple orientation, it is time to start an internship in various positions within the company. During the rotation, you'll have the closest contact with the HR Training Specialists, who are also a great source of information for you to understand within the company. If you can build a good relationship with them, you can get a lot of inside information, which can provide valuable reference for your career planning. Of course, building a good relationship with them requires being proactive in completing tasks during the rotation, which is a mutually beneficial process that requires you to "go above and bound".
04Fully understand the job information
First, you need to know which departments in your organization will accept new employees. Generally, new employees are assigned to scheduling, production, or marketing after they join the company. The dispatch department is different from the production and marketing department in that it is more of a functional department, while the production and marketing department is based on shifts. Production specialties include power transmission, substation and distribution. The city bureau covers a more comprehensive range of specialties, but the county bureau may only have one or two.
Understanding the work content and responsibilities of each department can help you better plan your career path (you can refer to our previous posts about each position). The dispatch department requires a high degree of expertise and coordination, while the production and marketing departments require solid technical skills and teamwork. Choosing the right department for you based on your interests and strengths is a crucial step in your career development.
05 Appropriate Voluntary Filing Strategies
If your organization will consider individual volunteers, then your volunteer application strategy will be crucial. After a period of training and understanding, new employees often form a certain stereotype after understanding the "advantages and disadvantages" of each major, which makes them want to go to a "reputable" major. However, in the process of formulating personal volunteers, it is important not to blindly follow the trend and follow the crowd. Each profession has its own unique strengths and challenges, which should not be the sole basis for us to choose a role.
New employees should fully consider their personality, work content, usual work and rest time, and future development when filling in the personal volunteer form. Carefully analyze the characteristics of each major, and make the wisest choice based on your own interests and career planning. Only by choosing the most suitable major for yourself can you be like a fish in water in your future work.
Successfully onshore the grid is just the beginning of a career. As a new employee, you shouldn't miss every opportunity to grow! Through systematic training and scientific selection, you can lay a solid foundation for your career development. Whether it is in the city bureau or the county bureau that is relatively relaxed, as long as we maintain a positive learning attitude and the spirit of hard work, we will definitely be able to succeed in the career path. Remember, career development is a marathon, and only by keeping working hard can you go further and fly higher.
