Why did the sexy beauty anchor pop up when the primary school student app checks in and skips rope?

In order to complete the daily rope skipping task, I clicked on the Skipping Rope App, but accidentally clicked on the pop-up advertisement, the sexy and hot female anchor posed in a seductive posture, the picture was explicit, and it was also equipped with the words "nearby beauties are hot live broadcast". The above picture appeared unexpectedly, and Ms. Mo from Guangdong hurriedly removed her mobile phone from her daughter.

Ms. Mo's daughter is in the first grade of primary school this year, and in response to the school's teacher's request to do an appropriate amount of exercise every day during the summer vacation, Ms. Mo downloaded an app called "×× Skipping Rope" on her mobile phone, so that the child can complete the tasks assigned by the teacher on the app every day and check in. It's a good thing to check in through the App exercise, but soon Ms. Mo found the problem - the ads in the Skipping Rope App are pervasive, almost every time you complete a workout task, the ads will pop up, and many ads can't even find the close button for adults.

"Even if there are many advertisements, some advertising pictures are unsightly, and they are not suitable for children to watch at all." Ms. Mo said that the software will pop up small window advertisements during sports, most of which are links to some live broadcasts and short video apps, and the live broadcast pictures with pictures are very explicit, basically some beautiful anchors who are wearing revealing clothes and showing their breasts, if you click on the advertising screen, they will jump directly to the live broadcast platform, and the live broadcast room anchors recommended on the Home are even more "sexy" than in the advertisement.

"As far as I know, many primary and secondary school students use the app to do sports check-ins, can such content really be accessible to minors?" Ms. Mo couldn't help but ask.

Nowadays, the Internet plays a significant role in the study and life of minors, and many primary and secondary school students use learning and tool apps to check in tasks, query data, study aids, and record life. However, a recent investigation by a reporter from the "Rule of Law Daily" found that it was obviously a learning and tool app for minors, but the content was "off-track". Some learning and tool apps not only affect the sense of use because of the large number of advertisements and confusing functions, but also contain some pornographic, vulgar and other "rubbing" content, which can easily cause adverse effects on minors.

According to the clues provided by Ms. Mo, the reporter downloaded the rope skipping app and found that after registering the app, the software will automatically pop up a page for users to "add classes", obviously the target group of the software is students. On social platforms, many parents complained that there were problems with the app's advertisements, which not only automatically redirected to third-party vulgar websites and could not be closed, which seriously affected the use and physical and mental health of teenagers.

Recently, because of a learning check-in app, Ms. Shi, a parent of a primary school student in Tianjin, was "angry". Ms. Shi said that there will be a lot of "red envelope" advertisements in the App, or the whole screen is directly red envelope rain, children do not know how to turn off the ads, accidentally click on the screen will jump to other apps or jump to some App download, recharge interface. When actually recharging, "one click", without any confirmation or prompt link, Ms. Shi's child was deducted more than 400 yuan for accidentally touching the advertisement.

Xiaoma in Henan is about to enter her second year of high school, and during the summer vacation, she often studies through the online study room and her friends. Xiaoma said that many of her peers around her will use the online study room in order to study well during the holidays. But during the use of the software, she found that the recommended content on the Home of the software began to "de-learn", gradually more posts posting idol photos and asking for friends, and some "game microphones" and "red bride microphones" appeared. The dynamics posted by many users are no longer learning experiences and notes, and have gradually become "fishing posts" that show off their figures and appearance.

The most embarrassing experience for Pony is that she was harassed by "perverted" private messages when she was studying with strangers in the online study room. Pony said that at that time, she was studying at home, wearing pajamas, and after being captured by the camera, someone sent a private message, asking her to lower the camera angle, and said things like "touch her thighs" and "look at her little sister", and the other party even adjusted the angle to aim the camera at her private parts, which scared Pony and hurriedly withdrew from the microphone.

According to media reports, in a learning app for a "×× elementary school student", children can earn a certain number of points by completing tasks, and the scores can be exchanged for virtual currency, so as to buy props or raise electronic pets to PK with classmates. Not only that, users can also choose to pay to purchase game items directly in the "Mall". Some parents of students made 13 purchases in less than two months at the request of their children, spending more than 1,200 yuan. In another official account called "×× homework", there is a special game section, containing more than 100 games, which can be played without real-name registration, in addition, the official account also uses games to guide primary and secondary school students to socialize, containing a large number of sexually suggestive and seductive content.

In September 2023, the Cyberspace Administration of China (CAC) disclosed a case of violating the law. The "Small World" section of a social platform was ordered by the Cyberspace Administration of China to suspend information updates for 30 days, confiscate illegal gains, and impose a fine of 1 million yuan on the "Small World" section of a social platform due to the existence of a large amount of pornographic and other illegal information, which seriously infringed on the lawful rights and interests of minors. Judging from the information reported, there is a large amount of pornographic drainage information in this section, and some users induce minors to make bad friends in the comment area, carry out sexual lure, and recruit minors to play games together, endangering the physical and mental health of minors.

Learning and tool apps deviating from their main responsibilities and main business, disseminating information on violations of the rules, is one of the prominent issues explicitly named by the Cyberspace Administration of China's "Clear · 2024 Summer Minors' Online Environment Rectification" special action.

The interviewed experts unanimously agreed that laws and regulations such as the Law on the Protection of Minors, the Regulations on the Protection of Minors Online, and the Provisions on the Governance of the Online Information Content Ecosystem have explicitly prohibited the appearance of content that endangers the physical and mental health of minors in online applications. Learning and tool apps for primary and secondary school students should adhere to the red line of the law, and put an end to the existence of pornographic, violent, vulgar and other negative information, regardless of whether such content is published by the platform itself, commented on by users, or existed in advertisements.

Liu Deliang, a professor at the Law School of Zhongnan University of Economics and Law and director of the Asia-Pacific Network Law Research Center, suggested that for the phenomenon of apps disseminating illegal information, relevant departments can refine and interpret the content of laws and regulations through departmental rules, and at the same time strengthen the supervision and punishment of platforms and disseminators.

Huang Yan, a partner at Beijing Lufeng Law Firm, believes that the pursuit of commercial monetization is the root cause of the appearance of bad content in such apps. The technical filtering ability of relevant online platforms is insufficient, and the acquiescence and connivance of some platforms in order to win user traffic and greater market interests is also one of the reasons. To this end, it is necessary to consolidate the responsibility of online platforms to establish and improve mechanisms for the governance of the online information content ecosystem, improve systems for user registration, account management, and information release review, increase the ability to identify pornographic information, upgrade prevention and control methods, and unblock channels for public reporting and supervision, so as to achieve early detection and early handling.
