On August 1, Guangxi Beibu Gulf International Port Group introduced that the Brunei Mora Port, which it participates in, will start the container terminal reconstruction and expansion project in August to further improve the port's support capacity and operation level, and promote the high-quality development of port-friendly industries.

Mora Port is Brunei's only international deep-water port and Brunei's most important international trade route. Guangxi Beibu Gulf International Port Group has participated in the operation of Brunei Mora Port since 2017 and has been committed to comprehensively improving the quality and efficiency, improving the energy level and optimizing the service of Mora Port.

According to statistics, in the first half of 2024, the port of Mora will have a cumulative cargo throughput of 1,007,900 tons, a year-on-year increase of 5.77%, and a cumulative container throughput of 51,800 TEUs, a year-on-year increase of 1.37%. Port Mora's operating income increased by 186% compared to 2017, achieving profitability for the seventh consecutive year. The efficiency of quay crane operations increased by 61% compared with 2017; The efficiency of ship operation has increased by 156% compared with 2017, and it has been rated as "the port with the highest container operation efficiency in the Eastern ASEAN Growth Zone" by the shipping company.

"The project will be carried out in two phases, using a rolling development method to successively add a new shoreline in the Port of Mora, expand container berths, and upgrade the existing container terminal and multi-purpose terminal. In the first phase of the first phase of the project, it is planned to add 338 meters of shoreline and build a new container berth according to the docking standard of 50,000-ton ships. Lv Guoguo, general manager of Beibu Gulf Holdings (Brunei) Co., Ltd., said that in the future, the company will also start the expansion and upgrading of the Mora Port terminal step by step.

Recently, the Brunei Mora Port Bonded Processing Zone was approved for establishment. The Brunei Port Mora Port Bonded Processing Zone is located in the rear storage area of the Port of Mora and covers an area of about 20,000 square meters. In the future, the bonded processing zone can also attract processing and manufacturing, international trade, logistics distribution, bonded warehousing and other types of enterprises through bonded policies, customs clearance facilitation, whole-process logistics services, resource agglomeration, etc., which can not only directly drive the improvement of the cargo throughput of Mora Port, promote the development of surrounding port industries and related service industries, but also bring new opportunities for the development of Brunei's processing with supplied materials, entrepot trade and other businesses.
