The night in Tokyo is full of color, and it is both disorienting and joyful. Switzerland photographer Jean-Vincent Simonet has created a series of psychedelic images of Tokyo at night "In Bloom" by printing photos of Tokyo at night on plastic paper and using chemicals to "destroy" the photos to create some blurred and distorted effects.
He said that the main purpose of his creative method is to bring about a kind of "liquid feeling", which probably refers to the fact that Tokyo flows like water, can adapt to various environments, and changes different forms in different situations.
The photographs were taken with a medium-format camera, inspired by the avant-garde style of Japan photographer Daisuke Yokoda, Simonet used photography as his main creative medium, but did not consider the photographs to be finished works, he printed the photographs on glue paper, the ink would dry slower than on ordinary photographic paper, and after the photographs were placed for about a week, and then immersed in chemicals, certain colors would have different effects of dissolving or intensifying.
He also said that what excites him the most is that the image looks different every time, which makes him more motivated to practice a few more times to master the technique.
He has also photographed other genres in the same way.
