Now that 6v6 has not officially returned, Overwatch 2 loot boxes and post-game cards are highly anticipated

Online service games like Overwatch have undergone a wide range of changes (some better than others), but these changes will inevitably remind OW fans of the good old days.

Now, with the original 6v6 game mode coming back to Overwatch 2, die-hard fans are flocking to Overwatch 2 and outlining what else they'd like to see in a July 29 Reddit post. While the original poster hoped for the return of loot boxes, allowing players to earn free skins by playing the game, a different but equally lost classic Overwatch feature was the focus of discussion.

Post-match cards allow players to highlight who they think is the best in the game. Whether you win or not, the post-match cards show the best side of the game. Support, Tank, and DPS characters have an equal chance of appearing on post-match cards, which is based on elimination, targeting, healing, and overall damage. This was a nice addition to the Overwatch game, but then this UI changed.

While post-game cards don't do anything for the game, when players see great animations, they describe post-game cards as "entertainment" and "bursts of self-esteem." Post-match cards bring players closer together, provide extra chat time, and push you to stay as a team (especially if you're winning).

At the end of the game, as well as in every game, players are "highlighted and recognized". Fire cards appear throughout the match (depending on your performance). Not only will the narration tell you and the others that you suddenly jump out in the middle of it, but it will also increase the odds of getting 10 votes for animations that always "hit the difference" when they are obtained.

Compared to the sequel, the community of Overwatch is stronger. Replies on Reddit revealed that features such as player voting had disappeared after match cards, while fire cards had "removed a significant portion of souls or charms from the game."

Players may not be sure why Blizzard removed these features in the release of Overwatch 2, but considering it's just a UI change, there's hope for a return.
