Zhangjinggao Yangtze River Bridge is located between Jiangyin Bridge and Shanghai-Sutong Railway Bridge, connecting Suzhou Zhangjiagang, Taizhou Jingjiang and Nantong Rugao. At the tower pillar upstream of the south main tower, the reporter saw that several workers wearing "air-conditioned suits" were grinding at the T7 and T8 sections, the machine roared, sparks splashed, and the workers were subjected to the double "baking" test of high temperature and scorching sun of welding. A welding robot is set up at the weld on the other side, which can not only ensure the stability of welding quality, but also alleviate the hard work of workers to a certain extent.
The reporter learned that the gaps between the sections mainly rely on workers to weld from the inside to the outside. A section with a length × width of 16.18 meters and a height of 10.2 meters is divided into more than 10 cabins, the smallest of which is only two or three square meters. "We set up four air coolers, just like air conditioners, and the workers ventilate before they work, so that the temperature can basically be about the same as the outside. When welding in-house, workers work for up to half an hour before coming up to take a break. On the other side, more than 160 construction workers are excavating and filling the core of the small compartment at the construction site of the bridge south anchorage of the bridge, the world's largest connected wall anchorage foundation. They need to excavate 32 small compartments with a depth of 42 meters, a width of 4.25 meters and a length of 8.75-9.5 meters like a "deep well" within half a year, pour the bottom concrete, and lower the reinforcement cage, connect with the first and second phases of the ground wall, pour concrete layer by layer, pour the "well" and the surrounding "well wall" together, transform the "support" into a "structure", and create a super-large-scale composite ground wall anchor foundation.
At the anchorage construction site, the small compartment is like an underground "deep well", and the workers responsible for chiseling here are like walking 15 floors up and down every day, coupled with the high temperature of the ground, the concrete at the bottom of the well produces hydration heat, making it extremely humid and stuffy. The project department regularly places ice cubes to cool down, and also equips workers with cloud bracelets, which can monitor the status of job suitability in real time, and also has a one-key alarm function.

Since the start of construction in October 2022, every step of the construction of this world-class bridge has attracted much attention. According to reports, at present, the anchorage of the bridge in the south channel of the bridge has been reinforced, and the excavation and concrete pouring of small compartments are being carried out; The bottom plate has been poured in the south anchorage of the North Channel Bridge, and the construction of core-filled concrete is being carried out; The final sinking work is underway at the North Anchor Pier caisson; The main and auxiliary towers of the bridge are being installed in the tower column segments.
