In Lijiazhai Village, Hutun Town, Feicheng City, the former coal mining subsidence is now full of vitality under the summer sun. Walking into the lotus root shrimp polyculture base of the village, a pastoral scenery of "infinite blue lotus leaves, different red lotus flowers reflecting the sun" comes into view, which is beautiful.
In the pit, pink lotus flowers bloom and dance in the sea of emerald green lotus leaves. In this interweaving of emerald green and pink, the emerald green lotus pods quietly mature, wrapped in plump and fat lotus seeds, exuding an attractive fragrance. Dressed in waterproof clothes and trousers, the workers shuttled between the lotus ponds, and they skillfully picked the fresh lotus canopies one by one and put them into the baskets, their faces filled with the joy of harvest.
This former coal mining subsidence area has now been transformed into a magnificent turn through a comprehensive treatment project under the leadership of the village party branch. The cooperative led by the Party branch of Lijiazhai Village has innovatively cultivated the polyculture model of lotus root and shrimp, not only planting 78 acres of space lotus, but also opening up about 20 acres of vegetable root planting area. With its unique charm, the space lotus attracts many tourists from June to October, and the harvest of the lotus pod also brings considerable economic benefits to the village collective, with an estimated annual profit of 120,000 yuan. In addition, crayfish, loach and other aquatic products are also cultivated in the pond, which further enriches the industrial structure and broadens the source of income.
The project not only boosts economic development, but also boosts local employment. Li Hongcun, secretary of the party branch of Lijiazhai Village, said that during the busy harvest season, the base needs to hire more than a dozen workers every day, providing villagers with job opportunities at their doorsteps and effectively alleviating the employment problem of rural surplus labor.
