The official WeChat public account of the Beijing Film Academy said: "On April 18, 2019, Zheng Guoen, an outstanding Chinese film theorist, photographer, screenwriter and director, and professor of the Beijing Film Academy, died of illness in Beijing at the age of 89. ”

According to the news, on the morning of April 24, the farewell ceremony of Professor Zheng Guoen's body was held in Babaoshan, Beijing. Representatives of teachers and students of Beijing Film Academy attended the farewell ceremony. In the afternoon, Professor Zheng Guoen's memorial service was held at the Beijing Film Academy. Qian Jun, secretary of the Party Committee of the Beijing Film Academy, Zhang Jian, deputy secretary of the Party Committee, Zhang Huijun, Mu Deyuan, Lü Le, He Qing, Chen Yan, Wu Feifei, Zhang Li, Qin Jinghong, Xiao Feng, Xing Shumin and other student representatives of the Class of 78 alumni, Cai Quanyong, Li Wei, Lin Tao, Qi Hong, Shao Dan, Gao Xiangming, Gong Rumei and other teacher representatives of the Department of Photography, Zheng Tao and Zheng Hao, family members of Professor Zheng Guoen, photographer Ding Hai, and Li Huifeng, students of Professor Zheng, attended the memorial service.

According to the public resume, Zheng Guoen, male, born in January 1930 in Anda City, Heilongjiang Province, a native of Penglai, Shandong, a member of the Communist Party of China, a professor, a master tutor, has served as a member and director of the China Filmmakers Association, the president of the China Film and Television Photographers Society, and a member of the Chinese Photographers Society.

Zheng Guoen joined the revolution in 1948, entered the third training class of the Northeast Film Studio, after graduation was assigned to the photography workshop as an assistant, in 1951 the factory was sent to the Northeast Normal University to study, in 1954 graduated from the Russian Department of the Northeast Normal University, in the same year with the Chinese Film Internship Group to the Former Soviet Union Moscow Film Studio internship, after returning to China to work in the Film Academy, as a 56th level (the first) undergraduate professional course instructor, 1962-1964 sent to the Soviet Union State Film Academy For further study in the Department of Photography.

In 1974, the Beijing Film Academy resumed classes, Zheng Guoen served as the head of the Photography Department and the head of the art teaching and research team, and later served as the deputy director of the department, and served as the 78th grade chief teacher, undertaking the professional course of photography art in the class, in 1984 he was the director of the Photography Department, and in the same year, he recruited the first batch of graduate students of the photography major of the Beijing Film Academy, as a tutor, and became a professor in 1988.

As the chief teacher of the 78th class of the Department of Photography, Zheng Guoen has trained film photography artists such as Zhang Yimou, Gu Changwei, Hou Yong, Wang Xiaolie, and Zhang Huijun. In November 2018, Zheng Guoen won the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 27th China Golden Rooster and Hundred Flowers Film Festival.
