Train delays are nothing new, right?

According to DB, there are many reasons for this result:
First of all, extreme weather in Germany in the second quarter of this year caused serious damage to the railway infrastructure and severely affected train operations.
According to statistics, more than 400 long-distance trains were delayed every day in June due to heavy rains, floods, landslides and other reasons, more than twice as many as usual.
The second is the aging infrastructure, with the average life of the Germany railway network reaching 40 years, and many lines are in urgent need of modernization. In recent years, some facilities have deteriorated due to lack of funding.
Strikes are one of the main reasons for the increase in train delays. Since the beginning of the year, there has been a wave of strikes, resulting in hundreds of train cancellations or delays.
Faced with such a dire situation, the Germany government finally can't sit still: the federal government plans to invest billions in modernizing the railway network.
According to this vision, by 2031, 40 sections of the road with heavy traffic will return to normal, and the punctuality rate will gradually increase.
