He is a generation of Chinese opera masters, the founder of the Tan school of Peking Opera, and is respected by the Chinese people as the Taidou of Pear Garden. Tan Xinpei was born in the twenty-seventh year of Qing Daoguang (1847), his ancestral home was Wuhan, Hubei Province, his original name was Jin Fu, the character Xinpei, the number of wangwei, the stage name was xiao called Tian, the hall name "Yingxiu". Tan Xinpei's entire family was a pear garden person, and it can be said that the "Tan Sect" had a pivotal position in the pear garden industry at that time.

After Mr. Tan Xinpei died of illness in the Camp Apartment on the Great Outer Corridor, he was buried near the Jietai Temple in Mentougou. So why was his grave chosen here?
It turned out that Mr. Tan Xinpei was a devout Buddhist and an elder of the famous temples in and around the city. He has been a famous benefactor of the temple for many years and has received the ordination of lay people, thus forming an indissoluble relationship with the temple. In his spare time, he often came to the temple to live in the temple, and he fell in love with the scenery outside the temple, that is, he had the desire to rest here after a hundred years. He once asked the abbot, Elder Miao: Elder Miao, deeply aware of the devotion of tan's generous generosity, gave up the 12-acre temple tea shed land of Liyuanzhuang in The Ancient Temple of Yaozhitai to Tan Jushi. This place is flat and vast, with head rests on Wollongong, feet on Jiulong Mountain, and Yongding River in the east, which is a wonderful place to rest. In 1918, Tan Xinpei's coffin moved to this place, but his long-cherished wish was fulfilled.

Tan Xinpei's tomb is located in Liyuanzhuang Village, Mentougou Yongding Town, which was built in the Qing Dynasty, and the tomb sits in a square shape facing north and south. The cemetery is surrounded by a simple and elegant blue-gray wall and covers an area of about one acre.

The stele is the life deeds of Tan Xinpei, written by the famous opera celebrities Liu Zengfu and Baotang, and handwritten by 93-year-old Wang Qinsheng.
On the west side stands a short stele protected by a glass cover, and many digits are still recognizable. The stele is 1 meter high, made of bluestone, and the inscription has 18 lines, each line is 26 words, recording the reasons before and after the cemetery. The stele was erected in the "Four Years of the Republic of China", when Tan Xinpei was still alive, and Jietai Temple promised to give Twelve Acres of land to Tan Xinpei as a cemetery, and Dawen first carved a stone stele here to record the origin of the incident as a proof.
It is said that the tomb of Tan Xinpei was severely damaged in the 1960s, and the stone offering table and stone stele in front of the tomb have been moved for other purposes. In 2005, the Municipal Bureau of Cultural Relics and the Mentougou District Cultural Committee renovated the original tomb site.

According to the "Secret History of the Qing Dynasty", the Duanyang Festival, the empress dowager was happy, gave a banquet to the Summer Palace, and ordered someone to summon Tan Xinpei and a group of famous horns to the palace to sing, and for a while Yang Xiaolou and other famous horns arrived, only Tan Xinpei did not arrive. Prince Shanqi of Su personally went to Tan Mansion to explore the reasons, and Tan Xinpei expressed his bitterness: Shanqi echoed the empress dowager, and the empress dowager laughed: "What should I be?" It turned out that it was just for the sake of smoking, so what was the obstacle, telling him to smoke even if he went into the palace, as long as he sang well, I also sent two eunuchs to pack cigarettes for him! Shanqi informed Tan Xinpei that Boss Tan was overjoyed. Since then, although the ban on smoking has been strict, Tan Xinpei has been ordered to smoke, and no one dares to check the ban anymore.
