Teacher Ma Jinfeng, one of the six famous Dan of Yu opera
When it comes to Henan Yu opera, it is destined to be inseparable from a character - Ma Jinfeng. She has been in the arts for 90 years, and is still active on the opera stage at the age of 100 years; the artistic image of the hero Mu Guiying she has created has been deeply rooted in the hearts of the people, and the masses say that she is the "golden phoenix" of the Yu opera industry - this is the famous Yu opera performance artist Ma Jinfeng, a immortal pine in the Pear Garden.
Over the past few decades, she has further studied and sorted out the excellent traditional repertoire of Yu opera such as "Mu Guiying Hangs The Commander", "Hua Da Chao", and "Flower Gun". She uniquely and skillfully used the performances of different trades such as Qingyi, Hua Dan and Lao Dan and beautiful singing skills to successfully shape three typical artistic images with very different personalities: Mu Guiying, Grandma Cheng Qi, and Jiang Guizhi.
Her performance has been unanimously affirmed by experts and the general public, and she is known as "Luoyang Peony". Her representative song "Mu Guiying Hangs The Marshal", under the enlightenment of Mei Lanfang's artistic master, from the shaping of characters, eclectic, absorbed the various performance skills of Wusheng movements and Qingyi Water Sleeve Gong in Peking Opera, and created a new and perfect artistic image of Mu Guiying after comprehensive artistic conception - thus, she uniquely created the "Shuai Dan" industry.
On the occasion of the warm blossoms of spring in April, the column group of this issue of "Pear Garden Parlor" went to Qingdao to visit the centenarian Ma Jinfeng and pursue the opera memories of Mr. Ma Jinfeng for a hundred years.
