As the largest flower market in Asia and the second largest in the world, the trading volume of Dounan Flower Industrial Park in 2023 will reach 13.541 billion branches, a year-on-year increase of 22.7%, and the transaction volume will reach 13.57 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 11.7%.
In 1983, Dounan Renhua Zhongyi introduced gladiolus (scientific name gladiolus) seedlings from Foshan, Guangdong, and after the successful trial planting, a branch of gladiolus "ignited" a sea of flowers. In 1990, the villagers of Dounan changed the vegetable field to a flower field, and sold fresh cut flowers on the main road of Dounan Village, forming a 50-meter "Dounan Flower Street" with "road as the city". In 1998, the largest flower market in southwest China landed in Dounan. In 2002, China's first international flower auction and trading center fell in Dounan. In 2014, the second auction and trading hall of the International Flower Auction and Trading Center was completed and put into operation. In 2015, the Dounan Flower Electronic Trading Center was put into operation, adopting the "Netherlands price reduction" auction method, with a daily trading volume of more than one million.
After nearly 40 years of development, Dounan has now formed a flower industry cluster with the only national flower trading market in the country and two leading enterprises such as the first flower auction center in Asia and the second in the world as the core, and the trading volume, transaction volume, cash volume, number of transactions and export volume of fresh cut flowers have ranked first in the country for 25 consecutive years, and the core competitiveness of flower trading has been comprehensively improved.
At present, the fresh cut flower trading varieties in Dounan Flower Industrial Park cover 117 categories and more than 1,700 varieties, showing its rich flower diversity and market competitiveness.
The double growth of transaction volume and transaction volume of Dounan Flower Industrial Park not only reflects the prosperity and vitality of the Dounan flower market, but also demonstrates the leading position of Chenggong District in flower industry innovation, digital transformation, and integration of flower culture and tourism.
In the industrial innovation sector, the People's Government of Chenggong District and the Flower Research Institute of the Yunnan Academy of Agricultural Sciences have cooperated to build the National Ornamental Horticulture Engineering Technology Research Center, the National Specialized Maker Space for Ornamental Horticulture, the Green and Efficient Planting Base of the International Flower Technology Innovation Center, and the Yunnan Provincial Seed Industry Joint Laboratory - Flower Seed Industry Laboratory Project. Among them, Chenggong District cooperated with the Flower Research Institute of the Yunnan Academy of Agricultural Sciences to jointly build a flower seed industry laboratory project, and gradually established a breeding system such as flower genomics and phenomics by building a world-class high-level breeding 4.0 innovation platform, which is expected to be put into use this month.
In the science and technology empowerment sector, the "Digital Cloud Flower Exhibition Hall" has been built and put into use, relying on the massive transaction data accumulated in the Kunming Flower Auction Center for 21 consecutive years, the implementation of the cloud flower + big data strategy, through the "big data" mining of information, can provide a basis for the formulation of government industrial policies, market development, and flower farmer planting, and also provide the most powerful help for the majority of flower farmers to understand the market and guide production, promote the deep integration of digital information and the real economy, and empower the development of the flower industry.
