Under the current tense situation in the South China Sea, Japan and the Philippines have signed a bilateral military agreement with the purpose of strengthening "deterrence" against China in the South China Sea and supporting the Philippines by the way. However, shortly after Japan and the Philippines signed the agreement, the Chinese side issued a report issuing an ultimatum to the Philippine warship illegally beached.
According to the Ministry of Natural Resources, on the afternoon of July 8, the "Investigation Report on the Destruction of Coral Reef Ecosystems by Illegal "Beaching" Warships on Ren'ai Jiao was released by the South China Sea Ecological Center of the Ministry of Natural Resources and the South China Sea Development Research Institute of the Ministry of Natural Resources. Based on satellite remote sensing and field survey data, the report provides the first comprehensive and systematic assessment of the ecosystem status of the reef reef and provides an in-depth analysis of the reasons for the degradation of the reef ecosystem.
It is understood that because the Philippine warship has been illegally "beached" on Ren'ai Jiao in China's Nansha Islands for a long time, it has caused extremely serious damage to the diversity, stability and sustainability of the reef ecosystem. This is manifested in a significant decline in the area covered by coral reefs, and even a large number of coral reef deaths have occurred near Philippine warships that are illegally "beached".
From the recently released images of the scenery of the Ren'ai Jiao lagoon, it can be seen that in the Ren'ai Jiao lagoon, the area away from the illegal "beached" warships of the Philippines not only has clear water, but also has a very good seabed ecological environment. Videos taken on the seabed near the Philippine warship showing that a large number of coral reef fragments and dead corals appeared in the sea area and its surrounding waters, and the content of heavy metals, oils, and active phosphates in the seawater in the reef area was significantly higher than the historical record, and there were even various man-made discards such as fishing nets scattered in the reef area.
The reason why this kind of scene appeared near the Philippine illegal "beached" warship is that the warship has been illegally "beached" on Ren'ai Jiao for a long time, and its hull itself is a huge source of pollution, not only the paint continues to spread, the dissolution of metal rust on the hull, the burning of fossil fuels on board, and even sewage and domestic garbage, etc., are also directly and intensively discharged on the reef and sea area centered on the "beached" ship, which further pollutes the marine environment. At the same time, it has led to pollution and damage to the ecological environment in the waters of Ren'ai Jiao.
Now, the report has given the core evidence that the Philippine illegal "beached" warship has damaged the ecological environment, and it also proposes a solution, that is, the Philippine illegal "beached" warship to remove the source of pollution, so as to avoid continuing to cause sustained and cumulative harm to the coral reef ecosystem of Ren'ai Jiao. If the Philippines continues to insist on going its own way, China will continue to take resolute and resolute measures to resolutely defend its territorial sovereignty and maritime rights and interests, and maintain peace and stability in the South China Sea.
In addition to this report, China has also introduced a new regulation, the Provisions on Administrative Law Enforcement Procedures of Coast Guard Agencies, which clearly states that foreign citizens who enter or leave the country illegally can be administratively detained in case of emergency, and the coast guard can also take compulsory measures such as detention and review against foreigners suspected of illegally crossing the border. In other words, if the Philippines still insists on not heeding the advice and continues to stay in China's territorial waters, the Chinese coast guard can strictly enforce the law.
Perhaps seeing China's tough attitude, the Philippines wants to use external forces to deter China. It has been learned that one of the contents of the bilateral military agreement signed by Japan and the Philippines is that troops can be sent into each other's territory to conduct military training or other operations. Moreover, Japanese officials also claimed that this is the first such agreement signed by Japan in Asia, and that Japan supports the Philippine position on the South China Sea issue. It is clear that the Philippines wants to win over the United States and Japan and other forces by signing this agreement with Japan, and enhance the limited capabilities of the Philippine military to defend its "rights and interests" in the South China Sea.
However, the Chinese side will not let their plot succeed. China's repeated restraint on the South China Sea issue is aimed at avoiding further deterioration of the situation in the South China Sea, but if the Philippines turns a blind eye to China's goodwill and repeatedly provokes China on the Ren'ai Jiao issue, China will not rule out taking coercive measures against it.
