To empty oneself is not to be disturbed by outsiders, and to keep a distance from the noise; to empty oneself is to empty one's mind of the thoughts that bind oneself and follow one's heart; to empty oneself is to keep one's mind clean.
In 1991, Hong Wei began his first design job and moved to Zhongshan in 1993. For him, although Shenzhen is the capital of design, it is very restless; While Zhongshan is just a very small city, there is no design atmosphere, no one interferes, you can calm down and think, do what you want to do.
In Hong Wei's view, design is a personal matter, there is no need for any atmosphere, too much information is just interference, what he needs is an environment that can empty himself.

"China rarely regards a word as a god, but the three words of Fulu Shou are worshipped as gods by the people. So what exactly is bliss? What is Lu? What is Shou? I started thinking, and that's the entry point. Peace is bliss, food and clothing are lu, life is life, and 'fu lu shou' contains people's beautiful yearning for life, so it will be passed on for a long time. Different from everyone's common Zhao Cai Jin Bao ensemble character, this 'Fu Lu Shou' I designed is not only a common form, but also a common meaning, and the spirit contained in it is the most important. ”
When your design provokes people to think, your design has a sense of participation. In 2016, "Na Nang Song" won the Type Design "Best Work" award from the Japan Type Design Association, becoming the first Chinese to receive this honor. After winning the award, he signed a contract with Founder Font Library, and Hong Wei made a total of five hundred words at that time. After that, with the joint efforts of the design team of Founder Font Library, the productization of the font was finally completed.
Chinese characters, beauty in their shape, deep in their meaning, its beauty belongs to people who think about life. Hong Wei integrates emotional things into the creation of canonical texts, and he believes that there are two main reasons why "Whispering Song" can win the award: there is inheritance and emotion.
"Whispering Song" is not made out of thin air. Hong Wei has always liked folk things, once saw the "Thirty-two Seals Body Diamond Sutra", was deeply attracted by the "Bird Seal" body, he wanted to put the bird's whisper, the bird's form, through the font, he hoped to do everything back to the natural state, so there was a "whisper Song".
But the "bird seal" is exaggerated, flamboyant, and he thinks that the beauty of Chinese things is silent, he does not want to put this kind of "zhangyang" through the word, hoping that the artistic conception of the font is moist and silent, let people look at it fiercely is just a somewhat interesting word, just a different Song style, but a closer look, and seems to have emotions.
"Whispering Song" font is beautiful and pleasant, dense and thick and light, carefully look at the strokes of the bird full of life and posture, the font image is like a bird whispering, full of vitality and rich in oriental beauty, you need to quietly taste to feel the unique charm in the font.
Hong Wei borrowed the medium of "word" to do what he wanted to express and convey his emotions, saying that "what form the word is expressed in is not so important, what is important is the spirit it contains."
