Spyker's C8 Spyder, which debuted in 2000, was a radical departure from its predecessor in terms of design. However, this model is also a clever blend of the Spyker's heritage in aircraft and automobile manufacturing, giving a sense of the unique charm of the brand's rebirth.
In 2001, Spyker introduced the C8 Laviolette, which replaced the Spyder's soft-top design with a glass roof and equipped with integrated air intakes specifically for the rear-mounted 4.2-litre Audi V8 engine. The interior and exterior design of the C8 Laviolette pays homage to the history of the Spyker brand, especially its aluminium body structure, streamlined design that borrows from the fuselage of the aircraft, the "muzzle" exhaust pipes at the rear, the striking wide grille, the instrument cluster made with the engine rotation process, and the aircraft-style switches and controllers.
Equipped with fully independent suspension and a six-speed Getrag gearbox designed for racing, the Audi-powered C8 Laviolette has reached a top speed of 300 km/h and has quickly become a formidable force in the sports car market. Between 2002 and 2009, only 55 C8 Laviolettes were produced.
The 2008 Laviolette (chassis number 182) is finished in black olive green and has a saddle-coloured quilted leather interior with contrasting dark green stitching. In addition, it comes with a variety of advanced configuration options, including an original audio system, a dashboard with four air outlets, a precision cast fuel tank cap, a stainless steel engine cover, a "whisper" exhaust module, and an aluminum dashboard panel made with an engine rotation process. The Laviolette is the only model produced in this colour combination, having been shown at the 2009 Geneva Motor Show.
After its debut, the Laviolette was sold at the Beerens Spyker store in Antwerp and subsequently acquired by a private collector. The collector took great care of the car, adding only 60 kilometers to its odometer.
In 2020, the car was purchased by an American Squiker enthusiast and was fully maintained by Sage brand expert Jasper den Dopper before it was exported from the Netherlands. And before that, this particular Laviolette had traveled less than 72 kilometers since the new car left the factory.
After finishing the work, Jasper den Dopper declared: "This is the cleanest and lowest mileage Spyker C8 Laviolette in the world." "The Spyker C8 Laviolette is not only a retro supercar, but also a futuristic aesthetic design. This rare Laviolette has also become a coveted target for many car enthusiasts and collectors. Today, the estimated price of the car is between 3.27 million and 4 million yuan.
