Not long ago, Lin Jian, a spokesman for China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, shared a video on social media. In the video, a disabled cyclist rides in Africa, giving hope to a local man with a prosthetic leg. Lin Jian praised the rider: "Good deeds know no borders. ”
This rider is Guo Shaoyu, a young man from Liaoning. 16 years ago, he lost his right hand and right leg in an accident. The teenager did not give up when he entered the darkest hour, and after going through hardships, he successfully left his wheelchair and started riding to become a para athlete.
After retiring, with the support and encouragement of his family, he began to ride around China, riding a total of 80,000 kilometers. In the past two years, he has continued to cycle around the world, setting foot in more than 10 countries and embarking on a wonderful journey. Recently, Guo Shaoyu climbed to the top of Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest peak in Africa.
With one leg, one hand and one bicycle, Guo Shaoyu has turned people into legends, and his experience has inspired many people. Let's take a look at his life story of never giving up↓
△ Accompanied by snow and a sea of clouds, Guo Shaoyu experienced the ultimate scenery.

Mount Kilimanjaro, located in northeastern Tanzania, is the highest peak in Africa. At an altitude of 5,895 meters, the foot of the mountain is surrounded by dense tropical rainforest, and the top of the mountain is covered with snow and ice that does not melt all year round, and is known as the "equatorial snow crown" and "roof of Africa".
Guo Shaoyu recalled that the process of climbing was "too difficult". He followed the guide from the rainforest zone below, but when it rained, the originally flat mountain road became slippery and muddy, and the thick mud attached to the prosthesis made his steps extremely heavy. The next day, the vegetation along the way changed to pine trees and shrubs, and the path underfoot was replaced by steeper rocks. Guo Shaoyu could only use both hands and feet, moving step by step, but he still inevitably "fell a few times".
He traveled at a speed of more than ten kilometers a day, climbing one mountain after another. The mountain road is almost vertical, the physical consumption is getting bigger and bigger, coupled with the continuous increase in altitude and the thinner oxygen, Guo Shaoyu began to have symptoms such as nausea and vomiting, and his head swelled, but when he climbed to a place "higher than the clouds", the open vision and the primitive beauty of nature made him full of strength.
Finally, on the day of the summit, Guo Shaoyu set off from the camp at 12 o'clock in the morning, and when the morning sun rose, he stood on the top of Mount Kilimanjaro and enjoyed a beautiful sunrise accompanied by ice, snow and a sea of clouds.
After descending the mountain, he carefully wrote his daughter's name on Kilimanjaro's ascent certificate - a gift he wanted to give to his daughter. "I don't know what she will face when she grows up, but I hope this certificate will give her the courage to try and challenge in the future."

Family has always been the driving force behind Guo Shaoyu's "long journey".
When he was 15 years old, because of his playfulness, Guo Shaoyu touched the high-voltage line and lost his right leg and right arm forever. During that time, his life suddenly entered a dark moment.
I can't remember how long he was decadent, but once, he overheard his parents' plan to "raise him for the rest of his life", and instantly sobered up. Later, he saw people with disabilities competing in sports on TV, and he saw hope. Soon, with the help of the Disabled Persons' Federation, he began to practice swimming.
In the water, in order to maintain the balance of his body, Guo Shaoyu did not know how much suffering he had suffered. Luckily, a month later, he finished first in a swimming competition – a race with only two participants, but it gave him the confidence to "at least prove that I wasn't too bad a swimmer".
After that, Guo Shaoyu was favored by a cycling coach, so he began cycling training and was able to enter the provincial team.
The sport is more difficult and more balance-oriented, and Guo Shaoyu said he learned it by constantly "falling". In 2013, Guo Shaoyu won the runner-up in the National Para Cycling Championships. In 2014, at the Guangdong National Games, he accidentally fell and bruised 15% of his skin, but he still insisted on finishing the race and finally finished fourth.
It is precisely because of this sport that he and Jiang Xiumei, who is also a cyclist, formed a family and had two lovely children. With the love of his family, he walked farther and farther with one arm and one leg.

After retiring, once Guo Shaoyu saw someone riding around Hainan Island on the Internet, and suddenly became interested, and immediately started the first long-distance ride on the road. Blowing the sea breeze and bathing in the sun, he felt happier than ever. With a vigorous momentum, he began to ride the whole country.
Holding the handlebar firmly with one hand, stepping on the pedal with one foot at a gallop, the trunk on the back seat of the bicycle contains simple daily necessities, and the word "persistence" is written outside the trunk, so he has ridden all the way through nearly 20 provinces such as Guangxi, Yunnan, Chongqing, Qinghai, Gansu, Shaanxi, and Henan.
He also challenged the Sichuan-Tibet line, which many cycling enthusiasts yearn for. Completing this route is a difficult thing for many able-bodied people to do, but Guo Shaoyu didn't think too much about it: "Do it if you like it, and difficulties can always be overcome." In just 20 days, he rode 2,200 kilometers to Lhasa.
Along the way, Mr. Guo said, many strangers encouraged him, and some invited him to stay overnight and provide him with food, "and the most fortunate thing is that I met many enthusiastic friends."

Since last year, Guo Shaoyu has started cycling around the world. He doesn't know a foreign language, but with body language and translation software, "everyone understands what I say."
When you are tired, you stop, and when you are rested, you go on the road, "It doesn't matter where you go, but you have to take every step of the moment." He has traveled to more than 10 countries, including Laos, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Egypt, Serbia, Pakistan and Zambia.
Along the way, there were many warm moments. Once, Guo Shaoyu's mobile phone was stolen, and he asked a strange passer-by for help through body language, and the other party helped him call the police. Unexpectedly, one of the police officers who arrived could speak simple Chinese, and the sentence "Don't be afraid, it's okay" moved Guo Shaoyu to tears. Docking registration, mobile phone positioning, driving tracking...... After four or five hours of searching, Guo Shaoyu's mobile phone was finally recovered.
Another time, Guo Shaoyu met a young man with crutches and a disabled left leg in Africa, and the other party stared curiously at Guo Shaoyu's prosthetic leg. He saw the expectation and eagerness in the guy's eyes, so he took off the prosthetic leg and let the other party try it on, but unfortunately it didn't match.
He gave the silicone sleeve on his leg to the guy, hoping to protect his amputated part. In order to express his gratitude, the other party took Guo Shaoyu home. "His family is not wealthy, and a few people are crammed into a small bungalow, but he generously burned a chicken for me."
It was this act of kindness that made Guo Shaoyu determined to "customize" a set of prosthetics for this strange friend. He drew sketches, bought materials, and hired a welder to weld them. When the boy threw away his crutches and walked independently with this prosthetic leg, the whole village spontaneously applauded and cheered for him.
The warmth of this two-way rush touched many netizens, and Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian also praised Guo Shaoyu: "Good deeds know no borders. ”
Today, Guo Shaoyu continues to ride in Africa, and his story has also brought strength to many people who are confused, which makes Guo Shaoyu feel satisfied and gratified, but he has never felt that he is anything special: "I am a very simple person, I love cycling, so I choose to go on the road and enjoy the scenery around me." ”
