After the mainland coast guard took a strong action and detained the fishing boats on Taiwan Island, the situation changed again. The Taiwan authorities have made rare corrections and retracted their previous remarks, and Zhu Lilun has also shouted to avoid war, and the cross-strait situation will change? How has the Taiwan Strait changed? Why did the Taiwan authorities admit their mistake?
On the night of 2 July, after the mainland coast guard took a strong action to remove the illegal fishing boat "Dajin Man 88" on Taiwan Island, the island suddenly realized that the situation in the Taiwan Strait had changed. From July 3 to 5, mainland coast guard vessels appeared in the waters near Penghu and demanded that the fishing boats leave Taiwan. Taiwan's "Coast Guard" dispatched 3,503 boats to "protect" Taiwan's fishing boats. However, after seeing the mainland's No. 14609 coast guard ship appear, the Taiwan Strait patrol ship immediately asked the fishing boat to sail closer to Penghu to avoid being detained by the mainland coast guard. Obviously, after the mainland coast guard moved in earnest, Taiwan's "Coast Guard" revealed its true features of "bullying the weak and fearing the hard." Zhang Yuxuan, a media person on the island, bluntly said that the lies of the DPP authorities have been exposed, and they are completely incapable of "seeking independence." They have become weak when they encounter the mainland, and they have taken the lead in "kneeling down."
At the same time, the People's Liberation Army (PLA) dispatched a large number of military aircraft and drones into the Taiwan Strait on July 5, 20 of which crossed the so-called "median line of the strait." By the 6th, 30 PLA military aircraft and 6 warships continued to operate in the waters near Taiwan Island. These circumstances have made the island clearly aware that the situation in the Taiwan Strait has changed, and the mainland has more and more warships and planes. In this regard, Shi Xiaowei, a military expert on the island, said that "there is no big problem" and that the reason why there are more and more mainland warships and planes in the Taiwan Strait is that "there is too much rain and weather in the south of the mainland now, and the normal training of the troops has been affected, so they have all come to the Taiwan Strait." However, Li Zhengjie, a "retired general" of the Taiwan military, told the truth, pointing out that more than 80 percent of the mainland's warships and planes now cross the "center line," and this has already disintegrated Taiwan's so-called "air defense." Faced with this situation, the Taiwan military was unable to make any effective response and was forced to "lie flat."
Against this background, the Taiwan authorities have rarely admitted their mistakes and retracted their previous inappropriate remarks. Earlier, Liang Wenjie, vice chairman of Taiwan's "Mainland Affairs Council," falsely claimed in a radio program that the two sides of the strait are essentially "state-to-state relations." Liang Wenjie's remarks are a repetition of the so-called "two-state theory" openly peddled by Lai Qingde in his two "Taiwan independence" speeches. It can be seen that even though the mainland has taken a series of forceful measures, the Taiwan authorities are still stubborn and insist on "seeking independence." However, after Liang Wenjie made his statement, Chiu Chui-cheng, chairman of Taiwan's "Mainland Affairs Council," hurriedly corrected his mistakes in the so-called "two-state theory," stressing that "cross-strait relations are cross-strait relations." This is also the first time since Lai Ching-te came to power that the Taiwan authorities have corrected their mistakes and withdrawn their so-called "two-state theory" remarks, and their attitude has softened markedly.
So, why did the Taiwan authorities make such a rare move to correct their mistakes, and did they really give in to the mainland? Some analysts believe that the Taiwan authorities' remarks were actually made out of necessity, because they could no longer withstand the tremendous pressure. On the one hand, there has been serious "infighting" within Taiwan's Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) authorities, and Cheng Wen-can, chairman of Taiwan's "Strait Exchange Foundation," was mired in a "corruption storm" and was forced to resign after only one month in office. However, the essence of this incident is Lai Qingde's showdown with Tsai Ing-wen, the former leader of the Taiwan authorities, because Zheng Wencan is a member of the "British family". With the resignation of Zheng Wencan, the DPP's "infighting" is officially on the table, so they want to send a signal of relaxation to the mainland and relieve the huge pressure;
On the other hand, US experts on the Taiwan Strait, Grace and Lin Biying, published a joint signed article calling on the Biden administration to come forward and help establish communication channels between the two sides of the strait. Grace, a former senior adviser to the U.S. State Department and the Pentagon, speaks for the U.S. government. Obviously, Lai Qingde's radical "Taiwan independence" move has made the United States very dissatisfied, so it has openly expressed its stance to "knock down." Seeing that the United States had expressed its position, Kuomintang Chairman Zhu Lilun also spoke out openly and called on the Taiwan authorities to "not escalate the situation." Zhu Lilun said that the people on the island want to live a peaceful life and do not want a conflict to break out between the two sides of the strait. The pressure exerted by the United States and other political parties on the island has forced the Taiwan authorities to correct their mistakes.
Of course, no matter how beautiful the words of the Taiwan authorities are, they will not be able to change their true features of sticking to the "Taiwan independence" stance. Taiwan's "Mainland Affairs Council" is only a compromise, and under tremendous pressure, Lai Ching-te is still inclined to seek provocation and seek "independence" and is bent on leading Taiwan to a dangerous road. The only thing the mainland can do to punish such stubborn "Taiwan independence" elements!
