HAY's new Barro cutlery collection is a sight to behold, and designer Rui Pereira shines

Danish furniture brand HAY's new Barro tableware collection is the brainchild of Portuguese designer Rui Pereira.

"Barro" means "clay" in Portuguese, and the Barro tableware collection brings the warmth, beauty and simplicity of clay to the table, while designer Rui Pereira wants to celebrate the essence of traditional craftsmanship in her hometown.

BARRO CAN BE FOUND ON THE STREETS AND IN MARKETS AND RESTAURANTS AND HOMES ALL OVER PORTUGAL, AND IT IS A MATERIAL THAT EVERYONE USES, AND IT HAS BEEN PASSED DOWN FROM GENERATION TO GENERATION AND IS PART OF PORTUGUESE CULTURE. Pereira's collection of tableware for HAY includes plates and bowls and cream saucers, as well as candle holders, all produced in Portugal, made from durable terracotta, with low water absorption, impact resistance and functionality, with a simple silhouette that revolves around plates, bowls and trays, with soft touch and proportions that are relevant to the fingertip and a pleasure for the user.

The pottery is coated with natural glazes in green, dark blue, light blue, beige, pink and original pottery colors, which are both beautiful and emotionally impactful, and leave "blank space" for everyone's life, so that people can be presented on the table as they wish, and they can also quietly feel the heat of clay.
