The official auto production and sales statistics of the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers for June and the first six months will be officially released next week. However, at the beginning of July, many car companies were eager to disclose their auto sales data for June and the first half of the year.
Judging from the sales data of some car companies that have been announced, there are mainly the following characteristics:
A number of car companies sold more than 100,000 units in a single month, setting a new monthly high
Under normal circumstances, if a car company's monthly sales exceed 100,000 units, it can enter the million club throughout the year and become a first-class domestic automobile company.
According to the data released by the manufacturer, a total of four domestic automobile companies sold more than 100,000 units per month in June. In order of sales volume, BYD, Chery Holdings, Changan Automobile, and Geely Automobile are listed in order.
BYD, a leading new energy vehicle company, is currently the only domestic auto manufacturer with monthly sales of more than 300,000 units. In June this year, BYD's sales exceeded 340,000 units again, reaching 341,658 units, creating a new monthly sales high. Among them, 26,995 vehicles were exported. In addition to the above four car companies with monthly sales of more than 100,000, there are also individual car companies close to 100,000. On July 1, Great Wall Motor Co., Ltd. announced its sales data for June 2024. In June, Great Wall Motor sold 98,080 new vehicles. Among them, 26,107 new energy vehicles were sold; overseas sales were 38,104 units, an increase of 52.36% year-on-year; Sales of models with more than 200,000 yuan were 29,476 units, a year-on-year increase of 40.40%.
The sales volume of 4 car companies exceeded one million in the first half of the year, a record high
According to statistics, BYD sold 1,612,983 vehicles in the first half of the year, a year-on-year increase of 28.46%. BYD's sales target for 2024 is 3.62 million units, which is 44.6% of the target sales in the first half of the year.
On July 3, Changan Automobile announced that its vehicle sales from January to June were 1334051, an increase of 9.74% year-on-year. Among them, the sales volume of independent brands was 1121346, an increase of 9.88% year-on-year; The others are joint venture brands. In the first half of the year, Changan's own brand sold 203207 vehicles overseas, a year-on-year increase of 74.85%. Changan Automobile's sales target for 2024 is 2.8 million units, and the sales volume in the first half of the year will exceed 1.33 million units, with an annual target completion rate of 47.6%.
On July 2, Chery Holding Group released a sales report: from January to June this year, a total of 1,100,621 vehicles were sold, a year-on-year increase of 48.4%, and the semi-annual sales exceeded one million units for the first time, hitting a record high. This is also the first time that Chery Holdings' sales exceeded one million in half a year. About half of Chery Holdings' sales are exports. Chery Holdings' sales target for 2024 is 2.3 million units, with a completion rate of 43% in the first half of the year.
On July 1, Geely Automobile Co., Ltd. announced on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange that from January to June 2024, Geely Automobile Group sold a total of 956,000 vehicles, a year-on-year increase of about 41%, and continued to grow year-on-year and month-on-month for three consecutive months. In the first half of the year, Geely Automobile achieved 50.3% of its annual sales target.
In view of the good performance in the first half of the year, Geely's management team raised its original full-year sales target from 1.9 million units to 2 million units. The increase is about 5%. Geely Automobile is only a part of Geely Holdings, and if you add the domestic and foreign sales of Volvo, Polestar, Proton, Lotus and other brands, Geely Holdings' sales in the first half of the year will reach more than 1.4 million vehicles.
Several automakers with high sales in the first half of the year achieved their annual targets of more than 40%, and Geely Automobile performed the best, reaching 50.3%.
It is worth mentioning that Great Wall Motors, which entered the million club many years ago, sold 559,600 units in the first half of the year, a year-on-year increase of 7.79%. Among them, sales of new energy vehicles were 132,374 units, a year-on-year increase of 41.99%; overseas sales were 201,500 units, a year-on-year increase of 62.59%; Sales of models with more than 200,000 yuan were 140,533 units, an increase of 64.28% year-on-year. Although the overall sales growth of Great Wall Motors is not high, the quality of operation is still relatively high.
Except for a few leading car companies, the sales target achievement rate in the first half of the year exceeded 40%, and most car companies achieved the target achievement rate in the first half of the year less than 40%, or even more than 10%.
The above-mentioned car companies with monthly sales of more than 100,000 and more than one million car companies in the first half of the year are all China's own brand enterprises, due to the slow development of new energy vehicles, the market performance of joint ventures in the first half of this year was relatively poor.
