The Alfa Romeo Junior will be available at the end of June, with the electric SUV starting at £33,895. The Jeep Avenger's replacement got off to a rough start after hastily changing the name from Milano to Junior.
The Italian government disputed the name Milano because it implied that the car was made in Italy but was actually assembled in Poland. Under the body, you'll find plenty of parts from the Abarth 600e and Jeep Avenger, and like these two cars, the Milano is available in both all-electric and petrol-engine versions.
New Alfa Romeo Junior price and release date
The all-electric version of the new Alfa Romeo Junior will be available for order in late June, with a petrol version joining the range later this year.
With a starting price of £33,895, the EV is slightly more expensive than the mechanically similar Fiat 600e and almost exactly the same price as the Volvo EX30.
Standard equipment across the range is quite extensive, with all models getting 18-inch alloy wheels, dual 10.25-inch displays, adaptive cruise control, and active lane assist.

The new Alfa Romeo Junior may be built with the same parts as the Jeep Avenger and Fiat 600, but you would never guess it based on its appearance alone.
It has a completely unique design that is more aggressive than other small SUVs on the market. The deep air intakes on the bumper and Alfa's signature trefoil grille make Milano truly stand out. The huge logo carved on the grille, though, may not be to everyone's taste.
The car also comes with some funky 20-inch four-spoke alloy wheels. The black cladding around the wheel arches gives it a more muscular look, and the sloping roofline adds a sporty touch.
Looking at the rear again, there are some styling details that remind us of other models. The small auxiliary lip spoiler under the rear window looks a bit like the one on the Kia EV6, while the curved taillights resemble those found on the older Maserati 3200 GT. I bet you never thought you'd see these two cars mentioned in the same sentence.
The new Alfa Romeo Junior engine and battery
The big news for the Alfa Romeo Junior is that it will be the brand's first electric car, although a 1.2-liter petrol hybrid version will also be available.
There are two engines to choose from, both of which only power the front wheels. You can opt for a 156-horsepower engine or a 240-horsepower engine for those looking for a popular hatchback performance level.
This may be the same setup as the Abarth 600e, which has similar mechanical properties. Alfa Romeo is tight-lipped about what this means for acceleration, but we expect Milano to go from 0 to 60 mph in 6.0 seconds.
Both versions are equipped with a 54kWh battery, which should be familiar to owners of other Fiat, Vauxhall and Peugeot electric vehicles. The 156hp version has a range of 255 miles, but Alfa Romeo has yet to specify the range of the more powerful version.

Entering the Alfa Romeo Junior, everything looks sporty. You do notice a lot of Peugeot/Citroën/Vauxhall switchgear around, though.
At the center of the instrument cluster is a 10.25-inch infotainment screen, and the satellite navigation can plan your route, including the necessary charging points along the way. For an added sporty feel, you can opt for the Sabelt bucket seat, which hugs you tightly when cornering – that's exactly what every small SUV owner wants, right?
When can I buy the new Alfa Romeo Junior?
The new Alfa Romeo Junior will be available for order this summer, but the price of the car has not yet been confirmed. The mechanically similar Fiat 600e petrol version starts at £24,000, so you can expect this sportier Alfa Romeo to sell for a little more. The all-electric version is likely to cost around £35,000.
