CCTV Military reported that Chinese Defense Minister Dong Jun, who attended the 21st Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore, gave the latest speech.
He issued a warning to some countries: "Whoever dares to separate Taiwan from China will surely be crushed to pieces and bring about its own destruction!" ”
Dong Jun pointed out that the Taiwan issue occupies a core position among China's core interests. The one-China principle is a universally recognized basic norm governing international relations. However, the current DPP authorities are pursuing "gradual Taiwan independence" and "de-Sinicization" in an attempt to sever the social, historical, and cultural ties between the two sides of the Taiwan Strait. This kind of separatist behavior is absurd and arrogant, and will surely be condemned by history.
Dong Jun made a clear warning to external forces. He pointed out that external forces are constantly blurring the one-China principle by means of "slicing sausages," promulgating Taiwan-related bills, promoting arms sales, and increasing illegal official exchanges, which in essence encourages "Taiwan independence" and wants to use Taiwan to contain China, and all this is leading Taiwan into a dangerous situation. Dong Jun clearly pointed out that China's handling of Taiwan-related affairs in accordance with the law is an internal affair of China, and external forces must not interfere.
Dong Jun is telling external forces that China is committed to peaceful reunification, but "Taiwan independence" elements and external forces are undermining this prospect, and the danger of splitting China has long existed. The People's Liberation Army (PLA) is an armed force defending China's reunification, and the PLA will certainly ensure that the "Taiwan independence" conspiracy will never succeed.
Dong Jun said: Any attempt to separate Taiwan from China will be severely attacked, and it will inevitably be crushed to pieces and bring about its own destruction!
Dong Jun said that China has always respected the normal concerns of all countries on relevant issues, but it must be repeatedly stressed that China's core interests are sacred and inviolable, and the sacred mission of China's armed forces is to safeguard sovereignty and territorial integrity.
On the issue of maintaining long-term peace and stability in the Asia-Pacific region, Dong Jun put forward six suggestions:
The legitimate security interests of all countries should be safeguarded. China supports the strategic autonomy of countries in the region and ensures that security is firmly in its own hands. China will continue to work for the fairness and justice of developing countries, and more opportunities for equal participation in security governance are the goals it hopes to create.
We will work together to create a just and equitable international order. At the heart of the international system is the United Nations-centric system; The basis of the international order is an order based on international law. The Chinese armed forces are willing to strengthen policy synergy with the defense departments of various countries under the relevant UN framework to promote the cause of peace in the UN.
The role of the regional security architecture should be brought into play. True multilateralism, supporting ASEAN's centrality, deepening practical cooperation under the ASEAN Defense Ministers' Meeting Plus mechanism, and enhancing cooperation capabilities in safeguarding regional security are the key points that China stands for.
Open and pragmatic defense cooperation should be promoted. China advocates mutually beneficial and win-win cooperation, and institutions and militaries of various countries need to be frank with each other. China will focus on opening up more effectively, attach greater importance to cooperation, and promote the quality and efficiency of various cooperation.
A model of maritime security cooperation should be built steadily. China is ready to carry out extensive maritime interaction and exchanges with other countries and militaries, promote mutual trust and correct cooperation, and work together to maintain peace and stability in the South China Sea.
Security governance in emerging fields should be strengthened. China maintains that the new highland of common development of mankind, that is, the emerging territory, should not be a new direction in the arms race. All countries should work together to discuss governance, share the dividends brought by new technologies to mankind, and use new technologies to benefit the people of all countries.
Dong Jun concluded that he hopes to see these efforts lead to the creation of a peaceful, secure and cooperative Asia-Pacific region for all.
