In the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, a large number of heroic soldiers emerged, especially in the Battle of Shangganling, there were even combat heroes such as Huang Jiguang, Zhang Lichun, and Sun Zhanyuan.

But in the Battle of Shangganling, there was another hero, which is rarely mentioned today.

His name was Takara-room, and he was known as the "Die Hard Hero", and that title came from his glorious battles.

He once annihilated 246 enemies in one battle and fought alone for more than 20 hours.

He once killed 246 enemies in a war, and later became so poor that he sold military merit medals, and the chief learned: Old hero, you are confused

He was only 20 years old when he achieved this achievement.

However, such a hero's life after the war was very difficult, and he even had to sell his military medals.

When his old chief learned of this, his heart ached, and he said that he was an old hero and confused.

So, how did he achieve this amazing feat back then, and did his life later improve?

Bloody battle on Ganling

In that year, in the first battle of Shangganling, Comrade Gao Lianglun's unit adhered to the No. 6 heights, and he himself served as the head of the combat team.

This No. 6 highland is on Wusheng Mountain, which is the commanding height of our army's central defense line, and the southern foot is Shangganling.

There are two highlands on the ridge, which are the forefront of the defense line of Wusheng Mountain, and they are also the two raised highlands in Shangganling.

How important is this front line, when Mr. Peng looked at the map, he pointed to Wusheng Mountain and gave special instructions to General Qin Jiwei, the commander of the 15th Army.

He said that the Wusheng Mountain is the gateway to the middle line, and if the Wusheng Mountain is lost, the volunteers will have to retreat 200 kilometers and have no place to defend.

Whoever loses Goseongsan Mountain will be responsible for the history of North Korea in the future, which shows how important it is.

On November 12, 1952, at 4 a.m., the enemy launched an attack on Heights 6.

On that occasion they sent a large number of troops, but in the end they were unable to charge successfully and entered our high ground.

They did not give up, and scattered their forces again and continued to attack our army.

At that time, Comrade Gao's task was to hold the recess on the right side of the position, and they moved 10 meters to the right and successfully avoided the enemy's fire.

The fighters of their combat group are very courageous, and they only start fighting when the enemy is close to them, so the probability of killing and wounding the enemy is higher.

Moreover, they are very flexible in combat, and after a wave of attacks, they will develop new ways of playing, so that the enemy will not be able to figure out the rules.

At that time, compared with the "United Nations Army", the volunteer soldiers on the battlefield were not well equipped, and they did not have tools, so they relied on their hands to build fortifications.

Comrade Gao was like that, digging dirt and loading sacks by hand, and he himself went deep into the fortifications abandoned by the enemy and searched for more than 100 grenades and blasting canisters.

The U.S. military knew that they could not fight them, so they thought about surrounding the high ground, implementing a blockade, and trapping the soldiers to death.

But there are always more ways than difficulties, and Comrade Gao took the lead, volunteered, made a dummy, used a stone as a human head, and then put on a military uniform and a military hat.

He lured the enemies over, concentrated them on the strike site, and then let the soldiers open fire and annihilate them.

Although they had many methods, the forces on the high ground could hardly withstand the continuous attack of the enemy.

Soon, when the battle entered the most critical white-hot stage, in front of Comrade Gao's eyes, his comrades-in-arms fell one by one, and in the end, only he and Comrade Wang Xueli remained.

He once killed 246 enemies in a war, and later became so poor that he sold military merit medals, and the chief learned: Old hero, you are confused

Both of them decided to defend Heights 6 to the death as long as they still had a breath.

These two brave warriors, who held out for a day, repelled 7 enemy attacks with only two men.

Then, they hid in the cat's ear hole halfway, and no matter what artillery fire the enemy bombarded, there was no reaction from the position.

After several shellings, the enemy thought that the volunteer fighters on this high ground had been eliminated and that it was time for them to go up and occupy their positions.

Unexpectedly, just when they were triumphant, two comrades, Gao and Wang, immediately came out of the cat's ear hole and dropped grenades and blasting canisters on the enemy.

The enemy was taken by surprise, and many people did not have time to flee before they were hit by merciless stray bullets and fell to the ground on the spot.

The rest of those who survived retreated with the large force, and they had defeated more than 100 enemies in just one day.

However, in the later battle, Comrade Wang Xueli died heroically, and Comrade Gao continued to fight with the will of the soldiers.

In the last few days of holding his position, he alone fought with the American forces for more than 20 hours, repelled six enemy attacks, and successfully annihilated more than 170 enemies.

Coupled with the previous results, he killed more than 240 people in this battle, while he himself was unscathed.

Such deeds, if put in modern times, will definitely be questioned by others, can people really do this?

And he proved with practical actions what it means to "be in the position".

Except for this time, when he killed 246 enemies by one person, in 1951, when he first joined the volunteer army, he had already become a feared sharpshooter for the American army.

How the title "sharpshooter" came from the outbreak of the Korean War in June 1950.

Teenage sharpshooter

Before the Battle of Shangganling, Comrade Gao Lianglun had already terrified the US military, and his specialty was to "shoot cold."

And this talent of his was discovered by the battalion commander.

Whether it is the volunteer army or the soldiers during the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the Liberation Period, a considerable number of them have a very poor childhood, and Comrade Gao is no exception.

In June 1932, he was born in Jiange, Sichuan, and was an authentic Sichuan baby, because of poverty and unfair treatment, so that he buried the idea of turning over for the poor in his heart since he was a child.

Time flies, and on October 25, 1950, almost four months after the outbreak of the Korean War, the mainland decided to send volunteers to participate in the war.

The young people in China responded positively and joined the mighty volunteer army, and Comrade Gao also signed up, wanting to join the army and serve the country.

In February 1951, Comrade Gao bid farewell to his mother and new wife and embarked on a journey, when he was only 19 years old.

He was incorporated into the 3rd Corps of the Volunteer Army, and at first, he was an ordinary soldier in the 9th Company of the 93rd Regiment of the 31st Division of the 12th Army.

The corps that Comrade Gao entered is not ordinary, has a long history, and was originally Mr. Zhu's guard regiment.

Under the leadership of Mr. Zhu, the soldiers of this regiment have won titles such as "Tiger Regiment" and "Meritorious Hero Regiment".

Upon entering the ranks, he saw people displaced by the war, which made him even more determined to drive the invaders out.

Soon, because of his outstanding performance, he soon joined the Komsomol.

In the summer of that year, after the end of the fifth battle, the U.S. military took the initiative to call a halt, hoping to negotiate an armistice.

Although it is ostensibly a "truce", it is really impossible not to do it.

In order to deal with the cold guns and hidden artillery of the US army, Shiji formulated a new battle plan, and fought a positional battle with the US troops on the opposite side with the help of the mountains near the "38th parallel."

The range of the positions was very wide, the entire line of the positions was more than 200 kilometers long, and in some positions, the two armies were separated by only 50 meters.

There were a lot of recruits in the volunteer army, they were trained for a short time, often several months, and it was the first time for many comrades to fight the enemy at such a close distance.

When the time came to October 1952, their 93rd regiment successfully completed the Jincheng Blockade.

Originally, they were going to go to the second line of Gushan to rest, but on the way, the troops suddenly received a new order, asking them to quickly reinforce the 15th Army, which is why they went to fight Ganling later.

According to the order, they advanced at full speed towards Wusheng Mountain, which was also the first time that Comrade Gao felt the situation of fighting the US troops at close range.

These American troops are very arrogant, thinking that the equipment of the volunteers is not comparable to theirs, and they do not take our fighters seriously at all.

Especially during the armistice, these Yankees also turned up their horns in broad daylight and rested on the grass in groups.

Some of them were bold, so they ran to the ditch between the two armies to take a bath, and even took some Korean women to dance on their positions, which was very arrogant.

In order to kill the arrogance of this group of US troops, their troops engaged in a "cold gun and cold artillery" campaign.

Everyone decided to take advantage of this time to cultivate a group of fighters who are good at "cold guns".

Their task is to fight whenever they see an American soldier coming out, whether they are basking in the sun, going to the toilet, or riding in a car.

In short, it was to make them uneasy, and soon, the battalion commander found Comrade Gao Lianglun and asked him if he wanted to try to shoot a "cold gun".

He once killed 246 enemies in a war, and later became so poor that he sold military merit medals, and the chief learned: Old hero, you are confused

At the beginning, Comrade Gao didn't know what a "cold gun" was, so the battalion commander patiently told him about sniping-related knowledge and took him to practice.

In the course of the exercise, the battalion commander found that this young man was very talented, and immediately sent him to the training class for training.

It was by such a coincidence that he received systematic training and became a sharpshooter feared by the US military.

During the negotiations, his daily task was to carry a rifle and go to the sniper stand to observe whether there were any US troops walking around.

This group of Yankees doesn't have a long memory at all, and every day people pop up from near the position.

In the morning, it may be to go to the toilet, or it may be to collect firewood to make breakfast.

These are the perfect times to let go of the cold gun, and every time he can easily eliminate the target.

Sometimes, he could catch 7 or 8 of them a day, and they all made a gun soul.

Many years later, when he recalled this experience, he said that although the "cold gun" was not as bloody as the Battle of Shangganling, it was a task that accumulated over time and required patience, but he liked this task very much, why is this?

Post-war life

Comrade Gao Lianglun liked the time when he was a sniper very much, and he believed that the "cold gun" had a strong deterrent effect on the enemy and was very useful.

Since the sniper heroes who beat them "cold guns" came out, the US military has not dared to be as arrogant and domineering as before.

Judging from the above experience, Comrade Gao Lianglun is very good, and it stands to reason that after the end of the war, his life will not be too bad.

However, to everyone's surprise, it was so difficult that he had to sell his military medal after changing jobs, what was going on?

After the end of the First Battle of Shangganling, Gao Lianglun annihilated more than 200 people alone on the No. 6 high ground and persisted for more than 20 hours.

He once killed 246 enemies in a war, and later became so poor that he sold military merit medals, and the chief learned: Old hero, you are confused

Everyone called him the "Die Hard Hero", and he was also awarded the titles of Special Meritorious Hero and Second-Class Battle Hero.

On September 18, 1953, in his hometown of Jiange County, government personnel also received the good news of his great service.

He, a Sichuan baby, went out to fight and earned face for his hometown, which is a very remarkable thing.

On October 1 of this year, on the National Day, as a member of the volunteer delegation, he was received by Chairman Mao and watched a wonderful military parade.

In December of that year, a delegation from the Korean People's Army also went to his hometown to pay respects to his wife.

At that time, he himself did not return to China, but stayed in North Korea to study for a while.

It was not until November 1955 that he returned to China, attended the party school, systematically studied cultural knowledge and thought, and received many improvements.

Five years later, he transferred to the local government and was assigned to work in a fiber factory in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province.

He once killed 246 enemies in a war, and later became so poor that he sold military merit medals, and the chief learned: Old hero, you are confused

At that time, he served as the vice president of the labor union in the factory, and although he won many honors, he was never proud of his achievements, and he did not often mention these things, and he was very low-key.

Some young comrades, after knowing him for a long time, learned that he used to be a combat hero in Shangganling.

This made everyone admire him very much, thinking that he was a comrade with clean sleeves and noble qualities.

Comrade Gao is very strict with himself and his family, never makes any demands on the organization, does what he can do by himself, and never relies on his previous merits.

He and his wife had two sons together, both of whom were still very young and had a large cost of food and clothing.

The wages of the husband and wife were not high, so he had no choice but to sell his military medals and exchange rice for his family.

Soon, this matter was known to his old chief, and he specially called to criticize Comrade Gao and said: "Old hero, you are confused! ”

He once killed 246 enemies in a war, and later became so poor that he sold military merit medals, and the chief learned: Old hero, you are confused

The military merit medal is a symbol of merit for a soldier, and it is also Chairman Mao's recognition of a soldier, which is of great significance.

This is also why Comrade Gao's old chief was so anxious when he heard about this.

Later, his old chief also sent people to Nanjing to look around for the person who accepted the pawn medal.

After several twists and turns, the person was found, and it took some money to buy the medal back.

In this way, the precious military medal returned to Comrade Gao's hands.

The old chief called again and was relieved to learn that the medal had been sent back.

At the end, he also taught Comrade Gao a lesson, saying that next time he had difficulties, he could call or write to him.

He can't do such a thing anymore, and next time, he will have to deal with it by military law.

After this incident, he kept in mind the old chief's teaching, no matter how difficult it was, he would not take the military medal and sell it.

Later, the family's life gradually improved, they had a lot more money, and the children gradually grew up.

In his later years, Comrade Gao was concerned about national affairs, and was often invited to make reports to primary and secondary schools and tell the children about the heroic deeds of comrades.

In September 2003, Comrade Gao Lianglun finished his life, and when he was still conscious, he always thought about his comrades-in-arms who died in Shangganling.

He also specially told his two sons that when they were free in the future, they would go there for him to see his comrades-in-arms.

Comrade Gao Lianglun's life was unrepentant for him, he realized his childhood dream, served the country when he grew up, defeated the invaders, and made military achievements.

After the war, he also had a firm belief and was honest all his life, such an old hero deserves our respect and nostalgia!
