The berries are dark blue, with less fruit powder, hard flesh, strong aroma, good flavor, and soluble solids content of about 13.5%.
Star Blueberry
In 1995, the University of Minnesota in the United States bred an early-maturing blueberry variety, which was patented in the United States and matured in mid-May in Shanghai. The berries are dark blue in color, weigh about 1.6 grams each, and have a soluble solids content of about 14.0%.
Garden blueberries
It is a rabbit's eye blueberry variety, which is a blueberry variety published in Georgia, USA in 1958, an early-maturing variety, which ripens in mid to late May in Shanghai. The fruit type is medium, the weight of a single fruit is about 1.3 grams, the berry color is dark blue, the fruit powder is less, the peel is hard, the sweetness is more, the sourness is less, there is a fragrance, and the soluble solids content is about 14.5%.
Brilliant blueberries
It is a rabbit-eye blueberry variety, a blueberry variety published in Georgia, USA in 1983, which is a medium-ripening variety and ripens in early June in Shanghai. The fruit type is medium and large, and the weight of a single fruit is about 2.8 grams. The flesh is hard, the fruit has a high sugar content, the soluble solids content is about 14.5%, and it has a fragrance.
Baldwin blueberries
It is a rabbit's eye blueberry variety, which was bred in 1983 and ripened late in mid-July in Shanghai. Baldwin blueberries are highly yielding and disease-resistant, with a long harvest period. The fruit type is medium and large, the weight of a single fruit is about 1.8 grams, the berry color is dark blue, the flesh is hard and brittle, and the soluble solids content is about 14.6%.

Blueberry shopping and cleaning tips
When buying blueberries, pay attention to the "four looks":
- "Look at the size", choose blueberries with uniform size and round fruit shape, which will taste better.
- "Look at the color", choose blueberries with darker skin, higher ripeness, if the color is red, it means that it is not fully ripe.
- "Look at the fruit powder", fresh blueberry peel with more white fruit powder, the fruit powder is not obvious or there is no fruit powder, indicating that the blueberries have been stored for too long and are not fresh enough.
- "Look at the skin", the fresh blueberry fruit looks full and firm, if the skin is wrinkled, it means that it has been stored for too long, the water has been lost, and it is no longer fresh.
When cleaning blueberries, there are two ways to do this:
- Rinse with water. The skin of blueberries contains a lot of anthocyanins and the surface is rich in fruit powder. Just gently rinse the blueberries with clean water to wash away the dust on the surface and try not to damage the fruit powder on the skin.
- Sasaking. Soaking in light salt water for 5~10 minutes can reduce bacteria and microorganisms. Stir with your hands a few more times and rinse off with water.
