Zhao Dengyu is a member of the Anti-Japanese War period, but also the first division commander who died on the battlefield of resistance against Japan, he was born in a poor farming family in Mudan District, Heze City, Shandong Province, although Zhao Dengyu's family is poor, but his parents still try their best to save money for him to go to a private school to study, and Zhao Dengyu did not live up to the high expectations of his parents, studied diligently and hard, and was very motivated.

However, after only two years of studying in a private school, Zhao Dengyu dropped out of school because his family was too difficult to come up with money.

In 1914, 16-year-old Zhao Dengyu chose to join the army to serve the country, and came to Shaanxi thousands of miles to join Feng Yuxiang's army.

At that time, the 17th Mixed Brigade led by Feng Yuxiang did not recruit soldiers, but Zhao Dengyu's spirit of joining the army for thousands of miles moved the officers of the 17th Mixed Brigade, and these officers made an exception to include Zhao Dengyu in the army.

In 1916, when Feng Yuxiang routinely inspected the soldiers' drills, he saw the burly Zhao Dengyu with his eyes, and he saw at a glance that he was a practitioner, so he asked Zhao Dengyu to come out of the ranks and have a discussion with himself.
