Zhao Dengyu is a member of the Anti-Japanese War period, but also the first division commander who died on the battlefield of resistance against Japan, he was born in a poor farming family in Mudan District, Heze City, Shandong Province, although Zhao Dengyu's family is poor, but his parents still try their best to save money for him to go to a private school to study, and Zhao Dengyu did not live up to the high expectations of his parents, studied diligently and hard, and was very motivated.
However, after only two years of studying in a private school, Zhao Dengyu dropped out of school because his family was too difficult to come up with money.
In 1914, 16-year-old Zhao Dengyu chose to join the army to serve the country, and came to Shaanxi thousands of miles to join Feng Yuxiang's army.
At that time, the 17th Mixed Brigade led by Feng Yuxiang did not recruit soldiers, but Zhao Dengyu's spirit of joining the army for thousands of miles moved the officers of the 17th Mixed Brigade, and these officers made an exception to include Zhao Dengyu in the army.
In 1916, when Feng Yuxiang routinely inspected the soldiers' drills, he saw the burly Zhao Dengyu with his eyes, and he saw at a glance that he was a practitioner, so he asked Zhao Dengyu to come out of the ranks and have a discussion with himself.

In 1930, the outbreak of the Central Plains War, in this warlord melee, Feng Yuxiang's troops were defeated, his troops were absorbed by the Chiang Kai-shek group, and after Zhao Dengyu was absorbed, he was reappointed as the commander of the 109th Brigade of the 37th Division of the 29th Army.
In 1931, the 918 Incident broke out, after the Japanese invaded the entire three northeastern provinces, they set their sights on North China, for this reason, at the beginning of 1933, the Japanese army launched an offensive on Xifengkou, in the face of the strong attack of the Japanese army, Zhao Dengyu, who led his troops stationed in Jixian County, did not have the slightest fear, but led his troops to the Xifengkou position, repelled the offensive of the Japanese invaders, and dealt a favorable blow to the arrogance of the Japanese invaders. After the Xifengkou blockade battle, Zhao Dengyu received a commendation and was promoted to the commander of the 132nd Division.
In July 1937, the Lugou Bridge Incident broke out, Zhao Dengyu led his troops to defend Nanyuan, resisting the Japanese offensive, at that time, the 132nd Division from the division commander Zhao Dengyu to the soldiers, the same hatred of the enemy, many times repelled the Japanese attack, so that the Japanese offensive was frustrated, the Japanese commander saw that Nanyuan could not be attacked for a long time, furious, even if he ordered artillery and aircraft to launch an indiscriminate bombardment of the defenders of Nanyuan, which made the 132nd Division casualties larger.
Song Zheyuan, the commander of the 29th Army, considered that the 132nd Division suffered heavy casualties, so he issued an order to Zhao Dengyu, ordering him to preserve his combat strength and lead his troops to withdraw to Beiping.
But what people never expected was that there were only eyeliners and spies planted by the Japanese in the 29th Army, and they reported all the plans and routes of Zhao Dengyu's retreat to the Japanese.
On July 26, 1937, Zhao Dengyu was ambushed by the Japanese army when he drove to Tianluozhuang in a sedan and escorted by two trucks loaded with guards.
At that time, the Japanese army sent the Japanese 7th Squadron and the 3rd Machine Gun Squadron to ambush Zhao Dengyu's troops at the ambush point.
After Zhao Dengyu's heroic martyrdom, the Red Letter Society buried his body in order to protect his body from the Japanese invaders, and subsequently, Zhao Dengyu's body was collected by the monks of Longquan Temple, and in 1946, he was buried on the slope of Xidaokou Mountain, 2 kilometers east of Lugou Bridge.
