It is understood that Xiangyang Beihua Agricultural Planting Cooperative was established in 2020, and Jingxiang No. 1 honeysuckle variety is a new honeysuckle variety with a long budding period and fast effect authorized by the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences and bred and promoted by Beihua Cooperative. It is favored for its budding period of up to 7 to 15 days. This characteristic allows growers to arrange the harvest time reasonably, which provides a good prospect for the promotion of the honeysuckle industry.
Liu Shixiong, a villager in Wangjiazhou Village, saw the good momentum of the honeysuckle industry, and began to try to grow honeysuckle last year, and increased profit margins by drying it. His successful experience has further stimulated the enthusiasm of local farmers to grow Chinese medicinal herbs.
In order to promote the further development of the Chinese herbal medicine industry, Gucheng County has included it in the priority support of the agricultural characteristic industrial chain, and provided capital, technology and talent support. At the same time, the Gucheng County Chinese Herbal Medicine Industry Association has also been established to help growers master planting technology and market sales knowledge through technical training and other means, and lay the foundation for the large-scale and industrialized development of the Chinese herbal medicine industry. At present, the planting area of Chinese herbal medicine in Gucheng County is more than 33,000 acres.
