Wang Wei was the main poet of the Tang Dynasty, he was an all-round literati, and it can be said that he was proficient in poetry, calligraphy, painting and music. In the ninth year of Kaiyuan, that is, in 721, he was appointed as Taile Cheng and was responsible for the etiquette and music affairs of the imperial court. During the Tianbao period, the official was in the Ministry of Officials.

Compared with poets of the same period such as Li Bai, Du Fu, and Meng Haoran, Wang Wei's status is already very high. But he himself felt unsatisfactory, his heart was very depressed, and he had the idea of retreating, which he wrote in a poem in return to Zhang Shaofu.

In his later years, he was quiet and didn't care about anything.

There is no long-term strategy for self-care, and the empty knowledge returns to the old forest.

The pine wind blows the belt, and the mountain and the moon shine on the piano.

Jun asks the poor and reasonable, and the fishing song enters the depths.

This is a five-character poem, written about the twenty-ninth year of the reign of Emperor Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty, that is, in 741. Judging from the title, Zhang Shaofu should have poems first, and Wang Wei is a reward in return. Zhang Shaofu is a friend of Wang Wei, and Shaofu is equivalent to the position of county lieutenant.

The first two sentences of the poem, "In old age, I am only quiet, I don't care about everything", Wang Wei was forty years old when he wrote this poem, and the average life expectancy of people in the past was not very high.

After forty, he doesn't care about everything, so the implication is that he still has great political ambitions in the past. In the past, the court was strict and pragmatic Zhang Jiuling as the prime minister, and at that time it was relatively clear and meritocracy.

Now that Li Linfu has come to power, some upright people have been sidelined. Wang Wei felt that he had no right to speak, let alone any hope of promotion, so he was unwilling to be with them, so it was wise to choose to retire.

The next three or four sentences "I have no long-term plan for myself, and I know how to return to the old forest", now in such a situation, I have no good way, I am in a dilemma, it seems that it is impossible to make suggestions for the country and the court, and no one listens at all.

So if you want not to be in the same stream with them, if you want to jump out of the circle of right and wrong, then you can only see out of sight, cut off contact with them, return to nature, and live a secluded life.

Wang Wei and his mother are both Buddhists, and both have this ideological basis for being born in seclusion. Of course, judging from the words of the poem, Wang Wei still has nostalgia for officialdom, and his intention to go into hiding is also out of helplessness.

The five or six sentences of the poem "The pine wind blows the belt, the mountain and the moon shine and plays the piano", here should be the poet's imagination of life after retreating, leisurely in the mountains and forests, leisurely walking, the breeze blows the clothes, and the pine waves linger in the ears.

Enjoy the flowers and chant poems, go to the poor place of water, and sit and watch the clouds rise. When the interest came, I drank with the bright moon and played the piano in the moonlight. Do whatever you want without scruples, and completely expose your true nature to nature.

Compared with officialdom and the earthly world, the mountains and forests are quiet and comfortable. No hustle and bustle, no scramble, no fear. There is only the breeze, the moon and the pine waves. These are gifts from the Creator, and they are inexhaustible.

The last two sentences of the poem: "If you ask me about poverty and accessibility in life, you might as well listen to the sound of fishing songs sung by those fishermen in the depths of the lake."

The woodcutter and the fisherman are fond of the landscape, and their songs are the songs of the hermits. In the poem, Wang Wei was not in a hurry to respond to Zhang Shaofu's inquiry, but answered by listening to the fishing song, because the hermit is the master. They have seen through the world, no longer care about politics, and regard fame and fortune as a passing thing.

The poems have distinctive writing characteristics, and the first four sentences are narration and argumentation, mainly to express feelings. Five or six sentences are written in two sentences, mainly describing the fun of secluded life. The last two sentences conclude with a question and answer, depending on the title and the previous text.

In short, Wang Wei's poem blends scenes, the wind blows his clothes, and he plays the piano under the moon, expressing his boredom with secular officialdom and his yearning for secluded life by describing the pine wind and bright moon. Of course, there is also a contradiction and frustration that the poet's lofty ambition cannot be realized.
