In the public draft of the "Special Plan for Urban Renewal of Chengyang District, Qingdao City (2023-2035)" (hereinafter referred to as the "Plan") released by Qingdao Chengyang Government Affairs Network on April 30, it is mentioned that focusing on key renewal sectors and cultivating central functions, four key renewal areas including Baisha Hebei Area and Baisha River South Area have been delineated.
For the Baisha River North Area, where the Liuting Airport area is located, the "Planning" gives a clear layout for the development orientation and industrial direction, and proposes to build a comprehensive functional center in the northern part of Jiaozhou Bay.
Obviously, Liuting Airport, which has attracted much attention after the "retirement", and the area where it is located, have a new goal.

In the nearly three years since Liuting Airport was out of use, its follow-up development has attracted much attention.

In comparison, as the main urban area, the total area of Shinan District is only about 30 square kilometers.
In a word, as long as it is properly planned, the Liuting Airport area has the potential to recreate the main urban area of Qingdao.

In this regard, Lv Peng, secretary of the Chengyang District Party Committee, once said that the Baishahe area, where Liuting Airport is located, has been identified as the third sub-center of Qingdao, and Chengyang District is also doing a good job in the planning and construction of the Baishahe area with high standards and high levels, which will definitely give the people of the city a surprise in the future.
In fact, in terms of industrial planning, in July 2022, the Qingdao Municipal Party Committee has given the Baishahe Area the functional positioning of "one district and three places" to build an international cooperation center, a gathering place for international talents, a fashion consumption destination, and a gathering place for emerging industries.
On April 30 this year, it was mentioned in the public draft of the "Planning" released by the Chengyang Government Affairs Network that Chengyang will focus on the urban development corridor and rely on the rail station renewal catalyst to support the spatial structure of "one center and three axes".
Among them, "one heart" refers to taking the north bank of the Baisha River as the space carrier, giving full play to the advantages of location transportation and natural landscape resources of the Baisha River, focusing on the development of innovative services, international consumption, culture and other municipal service functions, and forming a comprehensive service center that serves to drive the development of the Greater North Bank area and faces the Jiaodong Economic Circle.
There is no doubt that this is the planning positioning and core direction of the entire area.
For the Baisha Hebei area, it is proposed to encourage the revitalization and utilization of existing spaces such as Liuting Airport, introduce modern service industries such as large-scale conferences and exhibitions, cultural creativity, and fashion consumption, build experiential theme parks, and reserve land for high-level public service facilities.

Tracing back, focusing on the fields of cultural creativity and fashion consumption, the Liuting Airport Area has already been explored, and actively introduced three cultural contents: film and television production, airport international music festival, and China variety show carnival.
In the Spring Festival of 2023, a sci-fi masterpiece "The Wandering Earth 2" made Liuting Airport popular, and the retired airport with industrial colors in reality was "reborn" as the future airport in the film, which also ignited the passion of Liuting Airport to become a "high-end film and television base".
In May of the same year, the country's first apron as the venue of the Qingdao Ikesh Airport Music Festival was held here, terminal security, apron performances, boarding pass style tickets...... The unique scene and creative experience have attracted the attention of many music fans and injected new vitality into the cultural tourism industry.
For the construction of experiential theme parks, it must be that the Liuting area aims to meet the needs of tourists for all-round and immersive cultural experience through the creation of a comprehensive cultural and tourism complex, making it a new engine.
At this point, Liuting Airport can learn from the ideas of Hengdian Hengdian Film and Television City.
As the world's largest film and television base with the largest concentration of industrial elements, Hengdian Film and Television City, with its unique creativity and innovative concept, integrates film and television culture with tourism and leisure, and creates a unique film and television theme leisure experience resort in China.
In 2023, Hengdian Film and Television City will receive 489 crews, and the number of tourists will reach 19.8 million, a record high.
