On May 14, Yokohama Rubber Co., Ltd. announced that it will expand production of its tire plant in Mishima, Shizuoka Prefecture.
It plans to invest 3.8 billion yen (about 176 million yuan) to add a new production line.
This line mainly produces tires of 18 inches and above.
Construction of the new project will start in the third quarter of this year and will be completed and put into operation by the end of 2026.
It is expected to reach full production by the third quarter of 2027.
The investment will increase the plant's racing tire production capacity by 35 percent.
Yokohama Rubber said the project will support the growth of sales of Advan racing tires.
It is also one of the initiatives to achieve the goals of its "Three-Year Transformation" strategy (YX2026).
