On May 15, in the swimming pool of a fitness center on Zhoukou Road, Qingdao, according to the plan of coach Wang Kun, some members of the Qingdao Paralympic Swimming Team were training. They range in age, from 10 to 18 years old, and 18-year-old Xu Xingshang once won the gold medal in the men's 200m individual medley - SM13 competition at the 11th National Paralympic Games and the 8th Special Olympics, which won honor for Qingdao sports.
Coach Wang Kun demonstrated the movements to the players.
Coach Wang Kun said that these athletes were basically selected from Qingdao School for the Blind and the Disabled Persons' Federation of various districts and cities. Some are visually impaired, some are physically disabled, the youngest is only 10 years old, preparing for the Provincial Games, and the older ones are preparing for next year's National Games. The team members have just trained, and they mainly swim back and forth in the pool through the water board according to the coach's arrangement, and practice the water feeling in the pool. When the team members with physical disabilities first participated in swimming training, they could not complete the imitation of correct movements, and needed to guide the imbalance of limb movements by hand, and use some equipment to balance the muscle strength. At present, the team members train in the pool for five or six hours a day almost all year round, not including land training, and it is roughly estimated that the small team members train about 5,000 meters in the pool every day, and the older team members are 10,000 meters.
Players in training
Duan Yuexi, a 10-year-old swimmer, has been in the team for a year, and her parents work in Qingdao. After more than a year of practice, his performance has steadily improved, and the 50-meter freestyle used to be completed in 1 minute and 30 seconds, but now it can be completed in 50 seconds, and he hopes to continue to improve his performance and participate in the competition in the best condition through hard training.
These team members do not look young, but they have a strong ability to take care of themselves, and after completing aerobic exercise, physical training and pool training every day, they will take the initiative to return to the dormitory to complete the homework assigned by the teacher, and the training can not delay learning. Her dream is to represent Qingdao in national and world swimming competitions, and her dream is to become a swimming coach to teach people with disabilities to swim.
