At the event site, the reporter learned that the venue of the event, the Wuye Science and Technology Center, is a green and low-carbon building full of advanced scientific and technological elements.

Located along Jinjiang Avenue in Chengdu, with a total construction area of 15,634.6 square meters, Wuye Science and Technology Center is a multi-functional complex integrating scientific research, office, science popularization, culture, etc., and a sharing platform for scientific and technological innovation in the construction industry of Sichuan Province and Chengdu. Designed and built with the goal of building a near-zero carbon building, the building is the only public building in Sichuan to receive the near-zero energy certification of the China Association of Building Energy Efficiency in 2024, and it is also the office building with the highest comprehensive energy saving rate in Chengdu. Compared with ordinary office buildings, the Wuye Science and Technology Center can save about 670,000 kWh of electricity, save about 2,740 tons of tap water, and reduce carbon emissions by about 336 tons, reaching the near-zero carbon building standard.

Yang Feining, chief architect of the Design and Research Institute of China Metallurgical Group, introduced that in order to create a high-standard green and low-carbon building, the Metallurgical Science and Technology Center adheres to the principle of "passive priority, active optimization, and renewable energy offset" in the whole process of design and construction, and makes full use of the climate and site conditions where the project is located. For air conditioning and lighting needs, we comprehensively use active technical measures such as multi-inverter intelligent central air conditioning system, reclaimed water recycling system, and digital twin system to maximize the efficiency of energy equipment and systems, and use photovoltaic storage, direct and flexible technology to improve the utilization rate of renewable energy, and finally achieve the ideal state of providing a comfortable indoor environment with minimal energy consumption.

Passive priority makes buildings beautiful and energy-efficient

Sophisticated building form – Formal design is a key part of the building's passive reduction of energy requirements. The south side of the Wuye Science and Technology Center is a stacked cantilevered structure, and the north side is a stepped building with a step-like retreat, showing a "whale leap" shape. The overall morphological design scheme is based on the climatic conditions of the project location, comprehensively considering the influencing factors such as sunshine, wind farm, and surrounding building groups, and finally takes shape after a large number of information technology simulations, which is not only to meet its own lighting, ventilation, temperature control and other needs, but also to minimize the impact on the lighting of the existing residences on the north side, and perfectly integrate into the urban development.

In summer, the cantilevered structure on the south side of the building acts as a "parasol", which can greatly reduce the direct sunlight of the building, avoid excessive indoor temperature due to sunlight, and reduce the energy consumption of air conditioning. In winter, the solar height angle is reduced, and the south façade of the building is exposed to direct sunlight, which will greatly improve the lighting effect of the indoor space, increase the solar thermal energy income, and thus reduce the heating demand. The building places part of the functional area underground, which improves the land utilization, and at the same time, the underground building has the characteristics of warm in winter and cool in summer, which further reduces the energy consumption demand caused by controlling the indoor temperature.

Energy-saving and environmental protection "coat" - the curtain wall of Wuye Science and Technology Center is composed of high-performance materials such as vacuum glass, glass fiber profiles, vacuum insulation boards, etc., and the thermal insulation performance is 2-4 times that of ordinary buildings, which is equivalent to a layer of "heat insulation and cold protection" coat, which can achieve the thermal insulation effect of indoor warm in winter and cool in summer.

The façade of the building adopts the adaptive shading system independently developed by Wuye, which can automatically adjust the vertical position of the louvers according to the indoor light intensity, so as to meet the needs of shading in summer and lighting and heating in winter to the greatest extent. At night, when the louvers are closed, the façade of the building presents a beautiful landscape painting against the backdrop of lighting, adding color to the night view of the city.

The north façade of the building is planted with solidified fiber soil modules to cover the walls with greenery, which can cool the building and reduce its urban heat island effect. In order to ensure the good growth of plants, the building is equipped with sensors, sensors, automatic drip irrigation and other control systems, and at the same time linked with micro weather stations to achieve the purpose of water conservation. Overlooking the residential buildings on the north side, the buildings blend harmoniously with the city park next to them, and are full of greenery.

Light guide system - in order to meet the lighting needs of the underground functional area, in accordance with the passive demand reduction concept of "maximizing the use of natural light", the Wuye Science and Technology Center has set up 6 sets of light guide fiber lighting systems and 9 sets of light guide tube lighting systems, which "transport" the outdoor natural light to the underground functional area through natural light collection devices and light guide fibers and light guide tubes that can efficiently transmit light. The lighting device located on the ground can be combined with the sunlight sensor to realize the automatic tracking of the sun's position and further improve the lighting efficiency. This alone saves around 5,500 kWh of electricity per year.

Take the initiative to optimize and take multiple measures to save energy and reduce emissions

On the basis of passive consumption reduction, the Wuye Science and Technology Center combines a number of active high-performance technologies to further improve the effect of building energy conservation and emission reduction.

High-performance energy-saving equipment and technology - The fresh air system used in the central air conditioning of the building can carry out indoor and outdoor two-way ventilation according to carbon dioxide concentration and PM2.5 value, intelligently control the internal air quality of the building, and create a more comfortable office environment. In addition, the fresh air system also has a heat recovery function, which can absorb the heat in the air and provide domestic hot water through the air source heat pump hot water unit to achieve the purpose of high-efficiency and energy-saving supply.

The building is also equipped with a reclaimed water reuse system, which can treat domestic sewage, tube well wastewater, and air conditioning water for flushing, toilet flushing, and green watering, which can save about 2,740 tons of tap water every year.

Intelligent "brain" - the science and technology center is equipped with a digital twin system independently developed by China Metallurgical Group, integrating intelligent lighting, human body sensing, indoor air quality monitoring, outdoor weather monitoring, building automation, energy consumption monitoring and other functions, just like installing an intelligent "brain" for the building, which can monitor and analyze the energy consumption data of the building in real time, and intelligently control the air conditioning, lighting, elevators and other equipment, which effectively guarantees the good operation and environmental comfort of the building, and further improves the effect of energy conservation and carbon reduction.

Super "power bank" - Wuye Science and Technology Center uses optical storage direct flexible technology, the roof of the building is covered with monocrystalline silicon photovoltaic power generation panels, with a cumulative annual power generation of about 99,000 kilowatt hours, and at the same time set up about 200 kilowatts of outdoor containerized energy storage devices and DC power equipment, and through the collection of external environmental parameters and distribution network data, with flexible control strategy peak shaving and valley filling, when the photovoltaic power generation is greater than the load, the residual electricity is stored in the energy storage device, and released when there is a load demand.

Prefabricated buildings - prefabricated buildings with the advantages of high level of industrialization, fast construction speed, good construction quality, reduced pollution and waste, etc., have become an effective way to achieve green construction.

With the steel structure as the "skeleton", the Wuye Science and Technology Center adopts prefabricated buildings, with a single assembly rate of 91.48%, reaching the AAA level of national standard prefabricated buildings. This kind of "building block" construction technology not only shortens the construction period, but also effectively reduces the generation of construction waste and construction dust in the construction process, avoids the pollution of the environment by on-site wet operation, covers the construction process with green concepts, and lays a good foundation for saving resources, protecting the environment and reducing pollution during the whole life cycle of the building.
