In my quest for a streamlined lifestyle, I came to realize that having two bags that fit me is enough to cope with the changing seasons. This shift stems from my deep reflection on my lifestyle and my re-evaluation of the value of objects.
Once upon a time, my closet was full of bags of all kinds, but it always felt like one was missing. Every time I shop, I'm always intrigued by new bags and take them home on the impulse. However, as time went on, I found that many bags didn't get the opportunity to be used as they should, and they lay quietly in the corner, becoming idle objects in my life.
So, I began the journey of parting. I look at each bag and think about the role they play in my life. Those bags that are not commonly used and only exist for concave shapes are gradually eliminated from my life. Eventually, I was left with two bags that were extremely well utilized – one for my daily commute and one for my weekend break. These two bags not only meet my daily needs, but also become loyal companions in my life.
In the process, I couldn't help but wonder: why do we always feel that there is such a bag missing? Perhaps, it is because we are always influenced by the trend of the outside world and induced by the marketing strategy of the business. We buy bags, not only to meet basic needs, but more often to pursue a kind of psychological satisfaction. However, this short-term gratification is often accompanied by a long-term financial burden and a waste of living space.
Through this experience, I deeply realized that true happiness is not about having more things, but about having things that are right for you. I began to appreciate the items I had at hand more and pay more attention to the practicality and durability of the items. I've learned to think about my real needs before I buy, and not be fooled by superficial flashiness.
Nowadays, I am used to this lean lifestyle. I no longer blindly follow trends, but pay more attention to the intrinsic value of things. I've found that this lifestyle has not only filled my wallet, but also truly fulfilled my soul.
