Through the community neighborhood network, the "Old Buddy" program pairs young and elderly volunteers in the community with the elderly over 80 years old who live alone and the elderly, and provides them with family mutual assistance services including disability prevention, health science popularization, spiritual comfort, etc., so that the elderly living alone can actively live a healthy life in the community. On May 11, the Xianghuaqiao Street Community Service Office organized volunteers to carry out a one-day tour to see the development of Qingpu, and the "old partners" visited Zhangyan Ancient Village, Chonggu Town, and Hemu Water Street, Hemu Village, Zhaoxiang Town.
Zhangyan Ancient Village is a demonstration sample of the rural community life circle of the Shanghai Urban Space Art Season, where the "old friends" walk through the stone alleys, meet the old buildings with blue bricks and white tiles, and walk across the 300-year-old Zhaochang Bridge. Zhangyan Village is simple and elegant, it is a mixture of the Qing Dynasty architectural village history museum, the old house of the Zhang family and the modern functional buildings, just like the new shoots growing in the withered vines and old trees, the old outside and the new inside, the gray and white contrast, vividly presenting the old building restoration concept of "growth, survival, and new life", which makes the old people sigh, they watch all the way, recalling the good times of the past. "For more than 10 years, we have never interrupted this project." The person in charge of the Xianghuaqiao Street Old Partner Project said, "Volunteers will insist on calling or visiting their homes once a week to understand their difficulties and worries in life, and help coordinate and solve them." At present, there are a total of 122 veteran volunteers in Xianghuaqiao Street, and each volunteer is paired with 5 elderly people to provide care services, with a total of 510 elderly people.
Through this activity, it not only promoted the traditional Chinese culture, but also created a good atmosphere of "neighborhood harmony and community warmth", strengthened the communication between the community and the old partner volunteers, and was well received by the elderly. In the future, Xianghuaqiao Street will continue to enrich and expand the content of the "Old Partner" program, improve the sense of security and happiness of the elderly, and create an atmosphere of "relying on, looking forward to, and being safe for the elderly".
