A wetland park with a planned area of about 44 square kilometers will soon open in Hangzhou, where the first rays of sunshine rise.
Yesterday, the reporter saw at the site of the start block of the Qiantang Dawan District Wetland Park in Hangzhou that the construction here has been basically completed, and the countdown to the opening of the wetland park has entered - it will not be long before citizens can enjoy this green space of ecology and life twin prosperity.

The "façade" of the wetland park has emerged
It takes nearly 1 hour to drive from the most lively Jinsha Lake business district in Qiantang (New) District to the easternmost Jianghai Wetland. As soon as you get out of the car, you will see lush greenery, gulls and birds, and the water and sky are the same color, and your vision will suddenly open up - compared with the smoke and rain in the south of the Yangtze River in the Xixi Wetland, the wetland in the Greater Bay Area is more vast and atmospheric.
In the core area of the wetland park, a long promenade lies across the water, flanked by artificially excavated South and North Lakes. Like the West Lake Su Causeway, we can enjoy the different water features on both sides at the same time when we walk on the trail. In the delta area of the trail, all kinds of flowers bloom in the river breeze.
"Jianghai Wetland" is the former name of this area, and this wetland located at the eastern end of Hangzhou's "Three Rivers and Two Banks" ecological corridor is the core area of Hangzhou's eastern ecological belt, the green lung and ecological barrier of the eastern part of the river. Last year, Hangzhou launched the preliminary construction of the Greater Bay Area Wetland Park here. "We have implemented the construction of green fruit trees in beautiful sea ponds for 40 miles along the river, which will form a characteristic landscape ecological corridor along the river." The relevant person in charge of the Qiantang District Agriculture and Rural Bureau said. After intensive construction, the "façade" image of the wetland park has been initially presented.
For the development and construction of wetlands, the people along the river are full of expectations.
"Here, visitors can not only see the first rays of sunshine in Hangzhou every day, but also observe rare birds." Zheng Jianjiang became attached to wetlands because of his love for photography. Since 2015, Zheng Jianjiang and five partners have initiated the establishment of the Qiantang Green Ecological Public Service Team to volunteer for ecological protection services.
It is understood that due to the innate advantages of geographical location and natural conditions, Jianghai Wetland is an important node on the East Asian-Australasian route, one of the eight major bird migration routes in the world, and has also become a "bird-watching resort" for bird lovers. According to statistics, more than 140 species of birds, including the rare birds Oriental White Stork and Hooded Crane, have been recorded here, of which more than 20 species are listed as national key protected wild animals.
When we look down from the air, the 45-kilometer long coastline of Qiantang is like a string of emerald green beads, which is breathtaking. Guarding and building this urban green lung in the east of Hangzhou and doing a good job in the protection and utilization of wetland resources is not only an inevitable requirement for Hangzhou to create an international wetland city, but also an unshirkable responsibility of Qiantang (New) District.

Different from the naturally formed wetland, the birth of this wetland is a miracle in the history of human land creation, and it is an important witness to the unique history and culture of Qiantang - in the 50s and 70s of the last century, Hangzhou people have carried out two large-scale reclamation, and the wetland here is a closed environment formed by artificial enclosure and siltation. Nowadays, we can also see the magnificent tide of Qiantang here. "Race endlessly, bravely stand at the head of the tide", reclamation culture not only records the hardships of people to seize land from the tide, but also contains the wisdom of a generation of Qiantang people to explore the theme of "harmonious coexistence between man and nature".

According to the construction plan, Hangzhou Qiantang Dawan District Wetland Park will build "four systems and eight major projects", of which the "wetland expansion and utilization construction system" will make full use of the planning and expansion area, focus on the spirit of reclamation and tide surge culture, tell the "Qiantang Wetland Story", develop and construct wetland ecological agriculture, cultural tourism experience and supporting projects that are in harmony with wetland protection goals, and improve the ecology, scientific research, tourism and other functions of the wetland park in all aspects.
At the same time, for the young city of Qiantang, the Greater Bay Area Wetland Park will not only reshape the ecological fabric of the city inward, but also link up with the surrounding 24.5 square kilometers of rivers and seas to leverage more development potential, make up for the shortcomings of the infrastructure in the east of Hangzhou, and make the city and the wetland symbiotic and integrated, so that people can enjoy the "poetry and distance" at their doorstep.
