On May 11, Chen Duyu, the third volunteer in Honghu City, donated hematopoietic stem cells in Wuhan Central Hospital, bringing hope of life to a blood disease patient who had never met in the distance.
At half past nine in the morning of the 11th, on the bed of the hematopoietic stem cell collection room of Wuhan Central Hospital, Chen Duyu inserted a needle tube in his arms, connected to the non-stop hematopoietic stem cell collection machine, and the blood with body temperature was output from the needle on one side, and after the hematopoietic stem cells were isolated and extracted, they were infused back into his body from the needle on the other side. Throughout the donation process, Chen Duyu chatted with the staff with a relaxed expression, sometimes showing a bright smile.
Chen Duyu was born in Honghu in September 2001, and actively responded to the school's call in 2021, actively participated in voluntary blood donation after the epidemic, and registered as a hematopoietic stem cell donation volunteer. In January this year, Chen Duyu received a notice from the staff that he was successfully matched with a patient with a blood disease, and when asked if he was willing to donate, he agreed to donate hematopoietic stem cells without hesitation.
In the following days, Chen Duyu actively and successfully completed various processes such as high-resolution blood sample testing, health examination, and collection plan. In order to promote the massive growth and release of hematopoietic stem cells into the peripheral blood, he experienced physical discomfort, but he gritted his teeth and persevered.
At the collection site, the relevant person in charge of the Honghu Red Cross Society invited the second hematopoietic stem cell donor in Honghu to visit Du Chenyu and ask him to take care of his body, hoping to teach him by word and deed in the future, take himself as an example to promote hematopoietic stem cell donation, drive more young people to join the hematopoietic stem cell donation volunteer team, and gather more hope for blood disease patients.
