Hello everyone! I'm @Shen ShaoNeo. Today we are talking about the first 420 all-in-one liquid cooling from ASUS: ASUS ProArt PA420. Looking at the name, you must be interested in the DIY field of friends also understand in seconds, this water cooling is also from the ASUS ProArt series, which has attracted a lot of attention in recent years, and it is very compatible with the ProArt PA602 chassis of the same series, there is a feeling of tailor-made.
Without further ado, let's take a look at this water-cooled unboxing first.
Brief analysis out of the box
Let's take a look at the unboxing first, ASUS's water-cooled packaging design is still the familiar formula of the ProArt series, with a black and gold color scheme, the name of the product and the supported Intel LGA1700 and AMD AM5 platforms on the right, as well as the logo of the partner Owl Noctua, and the description of the 6-year warranty, which is quite simple.
Once opened, the first thing is a ProArt card.
Below, you can see the body of the water cooler, as well as the fan and accessories.
ASUS ProArt supports Intel LGA1700/1200/115X, AMD AM4/AM5 platforms, and the compatibility is good. There is also a corresponding logo on the accessories, which is intuitive enough.
In terms of fans, this ProArt PA420 uses the famous "cat fan", which is the NF-A14 industrial grade lPPC 2000 fan from the owl.
The black appearance is quite restrained, with its own shock-absorbing foot pads, a 4 pin interface with a white label, a maximum speed of ± 10% PWM 2000RPM, a maximum air volume of 107CFM, and a noise level of only 31.5 dBA, which is a strong and quiet performance fan.
At the same time, the matching radiator is a 30mm thick radiator, which also adopts a black style, and the workmanship material is quite solid.
The cold head part is also very designed, with the golden logo of ProArt on the left and the wavy line on the right, which is very interesting. There is also an NCVM aluminized lens with light indication in the middle. When in use, ASUS Ortron software can be used to display information about the working status of the system's load, temperature, and fan speed.
The water block uses a three-phase motor water pump inside the water block, which is matched with ceramic sleeve bearings, and the performance and durability are leveraged.
In addition, the water block is pre-coated with silicone grease and has a plastic cover to ensure that we don't forget to remove it when we install it.
Test platform
Although this liquid cooling can be installed in any case that supports 420 water cooling, as a member of the ProArt family bucket series, I personally feel that it is still the most similar to the PA602 chassis, so I also chose this case for this test platform.
The specific parts models are as follows for the reference of interested partners.
CPU:Intel i7-14700K
主板:七彩虹CVN Z790D5 方舟
内存:金士顿 (Kingston) FURY Renegade DDR5 32GB (16G×2) 8000 MHz
SSD:金士顿(Kingston) Fury Renegade 1TB
Chassis: ASUS ProArt PA602
Power supply: ASUS TUF 1000W Gold full module
Heatsink: ASUS ProArt PA420
Installation process
As mentioned earlier, my main CPU is an Intel i7-14700K. Next, just put on the PA420 and see how it performs. The water-cooled installation itself is more conventional, which is the routine process of installing buckles and fixing the cold head.
It is worth mentioning that the process of installing PA420 water cooling into the PA602 chassis is quite distinctive. First of all, we have to remove this water cooling bracket on the top of the case.
Then install the water cooling fan and radiator radiator on the top of the chassis on the upper and lower layers of the water cooling bracket to form a sandwich structure >> radiator water cooling bracket >> water cooling fan.
Then put the whole set of brackets back into the chassis and it's OK.
By the way, I mentioned that the power supply I paired with this time is also from ASUS, and it is a 1000W gold gold fully modular power supply for TUF GAMING loaders.
In this way, it is the whole family bucket of ASUS electromechanical dispersion, and there is no need to worry about the compatibility of installation.
This power supply not only has sufficient power, but also supports the ATX3.0 power supply standard, which can directly supply power to the mid-to-high-end graphics cards of the NV 40 series, with a maximum support of 600W, the power supply capacity is quite sufficient, and the wiring is also more worry-free.
Performance
After installing the water cooling, the status indicator in the middle will light up after turning on the machine, which has a good appearance and is not too eye-catching, which is very in line with the positioning of ProArt products.
Under daily load, the operation of the whole machine is very quiet.
Next, let's take a look at the CPU full load, open AIDA's FPU baking test, and we can see that the peak power consumption of the CPU will come to a high of 350W at this time, and work under a high load of 320-330W for a long time. At this time, PA420 naturally wants to increase the fan speed appropriately, after 10 minutes of baking, the CPU packaging power is still maintained at a high level of 331W, and the CPU cooling fan is stable at about 1700 RPM, which is relatively loud, but there will be no "take-off" feeling when the common water-cooled products are fully loaded, and it is not noisy. At the same time, the packaging temperature of the CPU is kept at 99°C, which is completely acceptable for the i7-14700K, a high-end U.
And after stopping the oven, the temperature of the CPU package immediately plummeted to more than 30°C, which is really a cliff-like cooling. It can be seen that this ASUS ProArt PA420 all-in-one liquid cooling is indeed enough Pro and Art, it is very designed, the performance is very strong, and the operation is also quite quiet, highlighting an all-rounder.
In addition, we can also set the function of the light bar in the middle of the water block in the driver software. For example, GPU temperature, CPU load, GPU load, or memory usage ratio.
I usually set the CPU load to check the CPU operation at any time, which is very intuitive.
summary
Overall, the ASUS ProArt PA420 not only has excellent performance, solid workmanship, and attractive and high-end, but also matches well with the ProArt PA602, which can be said to be a natural fit. If you are using this case, it is quite appropriate to choose PA420 water cooling.
For friends who use other cases, PA420With the specifications of 420, 14CM cat fan mute + heat dissipation capacity, it is also a good choice, as long as it can be installed with 420 water cooling, the budget is also relatively sufficient, and you can also start.
Well, that's all for the unboxing, installation, and testing experience of this ASUS ProArt PA420 liquid cooler. Thanks again for reading, I'm Shen Shao, we'll see you next time!
