On May 11, the Yimingyuan community carried out the theme activity of "Herbs Fragrance and Nourish People's Hearts", planting more than 600 plants such as honeysuckle, white bud, bellflower, wolfberry, etc., including more than 30 varieties with medicinal value and ornamental, to create a demonstration base for Chinese herbal medicine science popularization while beautifying the environment.
At the event site, participants from Yimingyuan Community, School of Traditional Chinese Medicine of Yunnan University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Chenggong District Agriculture and Rural Bureau and other units first learned the planting technology of Chinese herbal medicine under the guidance of teachers from Yunnan University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and then cooperated in pairs or collectively to experience the fun of farming. Bags of humus were carried to various plots, and everyone waved tools to turn over and loosen the soil. Teachers from Yunnan University of Traditional Chinese Medicine patiently provided guidance on planting techniques to ensure that each Chinese herbal medicine could thrive.
With the joint efforts of everyone, the empty land was soon covered with Chinese herbal medicine seedlings, adding a unique scenery to the Yimingyuan community.
"We planted honeysuckle, and the activity was very meaningful, and we learned a lot of practical knowledge and planting skills of Chinese herbal medicine." Luo Pin of China Railway Jiayuan said.
"Through this event, we want to promote the spirit of labor and enhance the emotional exchange between residents; I also want to improve the health awareness of residents and experience the charm and value of Chinese herbal medicine through the popularization of Chinese herbal medicine. Li Xiongli, Secretary of the General Party Branch and Director of the Neighborhood Committee of Yimingyuan Community, said that the community will continue to explore more meaningful co-construction activities to create a more harmonious and beautiful living environment for residents.
It is understood that since the establishment of the Yimingyuan community, a total of 18 units have signed co-construction agreements.
