On May 11, 2007, an explosion occurred in the nitrification unit of the TDI workshop of Cangzhou Dahua TDI Co., Ltd. of China National Chemical Corporation, killing 5 people, injuring 80 others, and evacuating thousands of people from nearby villages. The direct cause of the accident was that when the nitrification system of the TDI workshop was abnormal, due to the excessive nitrification of nitric acid during the acid replenishment operation, the toluene was fed, resulting in the pernitrification reaction of the nitrification system and the generation of dinitrotoluene and trinitrotoluene (TNT). The pernitrification reaction releases a large amount of heat, which causes the temperature of the static separator to rise and lose its normal separation effect, and the organic and inorganic phases are mixed. The mixture flows into the mononitrotoluene storage tank and the waste acid storage tank and continues to react, the temperature of the static separator and the storage tank rises rapidly, the nitride explodes at high temperature, and the toluene storage tank ignites and explodes.

On May 18, 1995, a fire accident occurred in the production of p-nitrobenzoic acid at Songqiao Chemical Plant in Jiangyin, Jiangsu, resulting in 4 deaths, 3 serious injuries and direct economic losses of 106,000 yuan. The direct cause of the accident was: after it was found that there was a leak in the sealing packing of the rotating shaft of the agitator of the oxidation kettle, the deputy director of the production factory instructed the workers to tighten the bolt with a wrench, but it was not successful, but it led to a more serious leakage, and the material in the kettle (its composition is mainly acetic acid) was sprayed out of the leakage in large quantities, forming an explosive mixed gas with air, and the spark of metal impact caused deflagration, forming a fire.
