At that time, he lost his job and freedom, no one cared about him in prison, and even reading books and newspapers was a luxury, and the only thing he could do was to reminisce about the past, the era that created countless thrilling stories.
Liu Ding was born in 1903, and his family conditions were not bad, so he received a good education. After 1924, he studied in Germany and the Soviet Union, during which he was introduced to join the party organization, and after returning to China, he entered the newly established Central Special Branch and began to engage in underground work.
The Central Special Branch is an intelligence and security work organ of our party, which shoulders important tasks and provides a favorable guarantee for the further development of revolutionary activities. However, it was also a very dangerous job, and it was easy to be hunted down by the enemy in the course of the mission, especially in the early thirties, when the Kuomintang began to hunt down Communists on a large scale, and Liu Ding was unfortunately arrested, but fortunately escaped quickly.
After that, due to the blockade of the enemy, Liu Ding could only operate around the northeast. It was not until after the 129th Movement that he was favored by Soong Qingling and began to secretly meet Zhang Xueliang as a representative of the CCP, and with his efforts, Zhang Xueliang's attitude towards the CCP was relaxed.
Since then, Liu Ding has been engaged in united front work, and has helped many democratic personages, further promoting the anti-Japanese cooperation between our party and all parties. At the same time, he also traveled in many ways to continuously raise combat materials for the Red Army, especially the medicines and medical equipment that were in short supply at that time, most of which were delivered to the front line under his operation.
Because Liu Ding had a close relationship with Zhang Xueliang and was also very friendly with the democratic parties, he became the military representative of the central government in the northeast. During his tenure, he also served as Zhang Xueliang's secretary, and his work ability was recognized by both sides, and Chairman Mao also corresponded with him many times, and learned a lot of information about the Northeast Army from him.
During the Xi'an Incident, Liu Ding tried his best to mediate the relationship between all parties and silently helped Zhang Xueliang to properly complete this important event, and once again won the chairman's commendation. During the Anti-Japanese War, Liu Ding has been serving in the Military Industry Department of the Eighth Route Army Headquarters, under his leadership, there has been a major breakthrough in weapons and equipment in the Taihang area, and a complete military industrial base has been established, making great contributions to the victory of the Liberation War.
After the founding of the People's Republic of China, Liu Ding served as the vice minister of the Ministry of Heavy Industry and other important positions, devoted himself to the production of weapons for the military industry, and also provided a large number of weapons for the volunteers who went to North Korea. At that time, he worked overtime in the unit almost every day and devoted himself to military construction. However, in 1953, when he was working day and night, he was punished by the organization on the grounds that his work ideology was negative, which led to the unsatisfactory supply of weapons on the battlefield to resist US aggression and aid Korea.
At that time, 50-year-old Liu Ding had no choice but to accept such a punishment and was placed on party probation for two years, but during this period he still actively participated in the work and made suggestions for the development of the military industry. It was not until 1957 that he returned to the position of deputy director of the Second Aircraft Department, and was later transferred to the newly formed Third Aircraft Department as deputy director. However, in 1966, bad luck struck again, and Liu Ding was persecuted by the counter-revolutionary group and imprisoned for seven years before regaining his freedom.
In 1975, Liu Ding was 72 years old, and although he was old, he still worked hard at work and made unremitting efforts for the development of the country in the new era. After that, he also served as an advisor to the Ministry of Aviation Industry, rising to the ministerial level, and did his best to train professionals to improve the country's military and scientific and technological strength. In 1986, Liu Ding's physical condition was not optimistic and he had to be hospitalized.
At that time, there was always one thing in his heart that he couldn't let go, that is, the wrong punishment at the age of 50, which made him mind for more than 30 years. For this reason, he took the initiative to write a letter to the Central Committee to complain, and after repeated investigations, the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee and the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection at that time held that it was not his fault that our army's equipment could not be satisfied during the Korean War, and that it was the imperfection of the entire country's military industrial system that led to the delay in productivity, so they revoked his punishment. Liu Ding was overjoyed to learn the news, and he died peacefully soon after, at the age of 83.
