After the meeting, Lu Yong, Executive Vice President of SAIC Innovation R&D Institute, Qiu Jie, Vice President and Deputy Chief Engineer of SAIC Innovation Research and Development Institute, and Park Chunxu, Chief Marketing Officer of SAIC Passenger Vehicle Company, accepted an exclusive interview with the media and explained to us in more detail the technical advantages of Roewe DMH and the view of "technology going overseas".

Q: Now plug-in hybrid and range extension are particularly popular, everyone is talking about the thermal efficiency is particularly high, where is our competitiveness? If you go overseas, is there a market for this kind of technical route overseas?

Qiu Jie: The first is the problem of thermal efficiency, and the second is the problem of going to sea.

On the issue of thermal efficiency, I mentioned in the report that we have not only undertaken independent development, but also undertaken national scientific and technological tasks. Among the projects supervised by the 14th Five-Year Plan of the People's Republic of China, the only project on thermal efficiency for automobile brands is that we are working on SAIC, and the thermal efficiency target of this project is greater than 45%. Last week, under the on-site supervision of the national certification body, we completed the vehicle test and certification, and the thermal efficiency has exceeded 46%, which has data and reports, and you can check it, and it is relatively simple to speak with facts.

The answer to the question of going to sea is relatively simple, because it turns out everything. The new MG3 hybrid for the EP2 and ES3 has been announced in Europe. The target value is 100 g, and the measured value is 98.12 g. In terms of thermal efficiency itself, the reality is most clearly reflected in the CO2 data, so I think it is quite clear what the situation is in the competition between overseas and us. From the perspective of echelon, we are currently close to Japan and South Korea, and they are all in the area below 100g.

Q: What is the current level of SAIC's R&D strength? How does the strength compare with BYD?

Lu Yong: If you can answer it in one sentence, it is "international advanced level".

BYD they have their own advantages, but also have their own advantages, at present in the new energy track, the entire Chinese automobile industry from big to strong, deeply feel that the new energy track may be China's automobile industry from big to strong a real track.

On the new energy track, SAIC and BYD have given full play to their respective advantages and taken advantage of this opportunity to truly build China's automobile industry. I was born in the best era, from technology introduction, joint venture learning to independent innovation, it is indeed a stage to strive for surpassing on the new energy track.

The new energy track is large enough to accommodate many Chinese companies to join forces, technology PK Tesla, and the market to do it together. Now it is clear that on the new energy track, not only Chinese companies, but also foreign companies such as Germany are following, but also unswervingly moving in this direction. It would be good if SAIC and BYD could take advantage of this opportunity to become stronger together.

Q: When it comes to the latest product Roewe D5X DMH, the current pre-sale price of 119,800 yuan, under the powerful technology of DMH super hybrid system, what are the advantages of this product compared with competing products, especially Song PLUS DM-i? How to spread and promote the technical advantages and product advantages in the future?

Park Chunxu: Regarding the positioning of the Roewe D5X DMH, we first learned from it and found the most successful partner in this market segment, Song PLUS DM-i, and comprehensively benchmarked it in terms of size, space, configuration, and safety:

First, in terms of power, the Roewe D5X DMH uses a 1.5T hybrid special engine, which provides higher power attributes, better climbing ability, passability, etc. The 1.5T Roewe D5X DMH can achieve two performances: 6.9s acceleration time to 100km/h and a top speed of 200km/h.

Second, we chose the largest battery in its class, 21.4 kWh. Two performance results were formed: one was that the pure electric range was longer, reaching 135km, and our learning object was 110km; The second is that it is equipped with a 6kW external discharge, which can be met for outdoor travel, wild camping and other scenarios, which is also the largest external discharge in the same level to meet more electrical needs.

Third, we have spared no effort in investing in security. The proportion of high-strength steel used in the whole vehicle reaches 79%, in fact, in the industry, the safety level that everyone can feel can be achieved with 60% or 70% high-strength steel, but we use 79%. In addition, the proportion of ultra-high strength steel used reached 44%; Our side air curtains are 1.2 times larger than the competition, and the pressure is 60% after 6 seconds of impact, which can provide consumers with maximum safety protection in the most critical moments.

Fourth, in terms of quality materials, we use suede materials that are only equipped with luxury cars in places within reach, giving customers a warm and elegant riding experience. There are also places that cannot be seen, such as the fact that we provide the most comfortable seats in its class, which is reflected in the length of the seat cushion and the thickness of the sponge filling, and I believe that these investments are worth it.

Fifth, in terms of intelligent driving and intelligent cabin, the L2 intelligent driving system is provided on the 135 technology version, and in terms of intelligent cabin, we support the voice interaction function of one language and ten meanings. We have added a lot of costs in areas that our customers may not feel right away, and we firmly believe that these costs will receive positive feedback from the market and users.

Lu Yong: When we talked about "safety, comfort, energy saving, and environmental protection", Chinese users are very concerned about car NVH, and when we designed and developed this car, we had relatively high requirements in this regard. When you sit in the car, close the doors, and roll up the glass, you can feel the isolation from the outside world, and the voice of the people outside will not be so clear, and this sense of isolation is the effect of our NVH pursuit.

After two or three years of use, some cars are quite different from new cars. And we put a lot of effort into long-term reliability and consistency, which is what we demand from quality, NVH, and long-term durability and degradation.

Q: At present, in terms of technical cooperation, the main focus is on platforms and bodies, so what will the next technical cooperation be extended to? Does it include intelligent driving and intelligent cabin?

Lu Yong: As a key area of technical cooperation, the lower body basically covers the core technical elements such as battery, electric drive, control, and chassis, and all the most decisive elements in vehicle technology are all in it, which is called a platform. However, our technical cooperation is not limited to this, but also includes other aspects, such as intelligent and connected technologies.

The Germans believe that the development of China's automotive technology is based on catching up with them, combined with China's advanced digital technology. Mobile phones, digital payments, etc. are all digital technologies, although there are differences between China's digital technology and Germany, China's degree of digitalization can not be called completely leading, but it is certainly high, these digital technologies must bring great convenience to people. Safety, comfort, at least in terms of comfort, brings great convenience, so we will export or cooperate with them in these aspects.

In terms of intelligent driving, Tesla's intelligent driving technology is really good. In addition, China's intelligent driving technology is also excellent, especially in the application of images, radar, digital processing, etc. Computer technology is mainly responsible for the digitization of images and video streams. Therefore, intelligent driving and intelligent cabin are the key areas of our cooperation.
