With the release of the annual reports of a number of express delivery companies in the A-share market, the remuneration list of the senior management team, including directors, supervisors and other senior management, has gradually become clear.

According to statistics, among several A-share listed express companies in 2023, SF Express has the highest total annual remuneration of 48.51 million yuan, firmly occupying the top spot in the industry, which is almost three times the total remuneration of executives of other A-share listed express companies in the same period, compared with Shentong, Yunda and Yuantong, which have a total annual remuneration of 18.28 million yuan, 15.04 million yuan and 14.06 million yuan respectively.
In terms of the average annual remuneration of senior executives, SF Express continued to demonstrate its strong financial strength as an industry leader, with an average remuneration of 3.23 million yuan, significantly ahead of its peers. Shentong, Yunda, and Yuantong followed, with the average remuneration of senior executives of 1.22 million yuan, 840,000 yuan, and 740,000 yuan respectively.
Specific to the annual salary of senior executives at the chairman and general manager level, Wang Wenbin, general manager of Shentong, ranked first with 5.1457 million yuan, followed by Nie Tengyun, chairman and president of Yunda, with 3.3975 million yuan, Chen Liying, co-chairman and vice president of Yunda, ranked third with 2.5306 million yuan, followed by Chen Dejun, chairman of Shentong with 1.8105 million yuan, Pan Shuimiao, president of YTO, 1.2541 million yuan, and Wang Wei, chairman and general manager of SF, with 1.161 million yuan.
It is worth mentioning that, compared with last year, except for SF, Shentong, Yunda and YTO have not changed much in terms of the total annual remuneration of senior executives, the average salary of senior executives, and the annual salaries of the chairman and general manager. The total annual remuneration of SF Express increased by 19.3 million yuan, and Wang Wei's total annual salary also increased by nearly 460,000 yuan.
In addition, compared with others, SF Express also announced the detailed composition of executive compensation, including salaries, allowances, bonuses, robes (remuneration for directors working for the company), other benefits and share-based remuneration expenses, of which share-based remuneration expenses were 17.67 million yuan, mainly involving the expenses of the company's equity incentive plan, which became the main part of its remuneration growth this year.
At the same time, it should be noted that the remuneration figures disclosed in the annual report may not fully reflect the actual income of senior executives, as they may receive additional income from the remuneration of other positions, shareholdings or affiliated companies. For example, YTO Yu Huijiao, although his annual report showed that his annual salary was zero, he actually received remuneration from related parties of the company.
SF
In 2023, the total pre-tax remuneration of SF's senior management team will reach 48.51 million yuan, and on average, the average annual remuneration of senior executives will be 3.2339 million yuan, which fully reflects SF's great importance to senior management talents, and it is worth noting that the remuneration of senior executives is widely distributed, ranging from 641,000 yuan to 9.611 million yuan (excluding individuals with no compensation records).
Among SF's senior management, as many as 10 members have exceeded the million mark in personal compensation: Wang Wei, He Jie, Wang Xin, Zhang Dong, Wang Jia, Li Juhua, Li Sheng, Zhou Haiqiang, Geng Yankun and Gan Ling. Most of the salaries of managers at the level of deputy general manager and above are stable at a high level of more than one million, among which the salary of Wang Wei, chairman and general manager, is 1.161 million yuan, which is not high among the senior executives, and is even far lower than the average salary of senior executives disclosed by SF.
He Jie, the director and deputy general manager of SF Express, who is also the head of finance, topped the list of executive salaries with a pre-tax salary of 9.611 million yuan. It is understood that He Jie, 49 years old, has an academic background from the University of Hong Kong and Tsinghua University, and has accumulated deep professional knowledge in the fields of financial management, corporate finance, auditing and corporate operations. Since September 2021, Mr. Ho has served as the Deputy General Manager and Chief Financial Officer (Chief Financial Officer) of SF Holdings, and was promoted to Director in November of the same year, and further became an Executive Director in August 2023. In addition, he has been a non-executive director of Kerry Logistics and a non-executive director of SF REIT since October 2021 and April 2022 respectively, and the chairman of the board of directors of SF REIT since August 2023, with a wide range of roles commensurate with his high remuneration.
The salaries of the remaining deputy general managers are also considerable, among which Li Sheng received 6.407 million yuan, Geng Yankun received 5.625 million yuan, and Zhou Haiqiang and Gan Ling received 4.386 million yuan and 2.295 million yuan respectively.
Flexible
In 2023, the total pre-tax compensation of YTO's senior management team will be 14.0604 million yuan, the average salary will be 740,000 yuan, and the overall salary range will be 150,000 yuan to 1.3132 million yuan (excluding individuals with no salary records).
Among them, there are 8 executives with salaries of more than one million, namely Pan Shuimiao, Wang Lifu, Xiang Feng, Ye Feng, Peng Ke, Ge Chengjie, Zhang Longwu, and Zhang Yizhong. Among them, Wang Lifu, chairman of the board of supervisors of YTO, has a pre-tax salary of 1.3132 million yuan, and Wang Lifu has worked in YTO Co., Ltd. since February 2021, successively serving as the director of the discipline inspection department and the head of the integrity inspection center, and is now the vice president of YTO Co., Ltd.; Since October 2022, he has served as the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Company. Last year, the highest-paid executive of YTO was director and vice president Zhang Yizhong, who was suspected of short-term trading of "YTO Express" stocks by the China Securities Regulatory Commission in November last year, and Zhang Yizhong resigned for personal reasons in December of the same year. Many other vice presidents have an annual income of about 1.2 million.
In addition, Yu Huijiao, Zhang Xiaojuan, Pan Shuimiao, Xiang Feng, Ge Chengjie, Zhang Longwu, Zhang Yizhong and other executives all hold YTO shares.
Yunda
In 2023, the total pre-tax remuneration of Yunda's senior management team will be 15.0412 million yuan, the average salary will be 835,600 yuan, and the overall salary range will be 2,600 yuan to 3,397,500 yuan (excluding individuals with no salary records), and if the outgoing executives are excluded, the salary range will remain at 117,400 yuan to 3,397,500 yuan.
Among them, there are 7 senior executives with an annual salary of more than one million, the chairman and president Nie Tengyun's salary is significantly ahead, reaching more than 3 million yuan, the same as last year, the salary of co-chairman and vice president Chen Liying is also more than 2 million yuan, and other executives with an annual salary of seven figures include several vice president-level management members, such as Zhou Baigen, Fu Qin, Xie Wantao, Yang Zhoulong, their respective annual salaries are more than one million, and Lai Xuejun, chairman of the board of supervisors, has also exceeded one million yuan. It highlights the importance and motivation that the company attaches to the top management team.
At the same time, Zhou Baigen, Fu Qin, Xie Wantao, Yang Zhoulong, Yang Hongbo and other senior executives also received the company's equity incentive last year.
Shentong
In 2023, the total annual salary before tax of Shentong's senior management team will be 18.2766 million yuan, and the average salary per capita will be 1.2184 million yuan, which is the highest per capita salary of the express delivery company in this article except SF, with a salary range of 120,000 yuan to 5.1457 million yuan (excluding the number of people without salary).
In terms of executive compensation, Shentong Express has shown significant recognition of high-level value, especially in the director and general manager Mr. Wang Wenbin, whose annual salary is as high as 5.1557 million yuan. He was followed by Mr. Han Yongyan, director and deputy general manager, whose salary was also quite impressive, exceeding the 2 million mark, and the two of them ranked significantly higher in terms of salary among the executives of Tongda express delivery companies.
From 2007 to 2021, Wang Wenbin worked in Alibaba Group, successively serving as Vice President, President of Alibaba Cloud, General Manager of Cainiao Network, CTO and General Manager of Express Business Unit, accumulating deep strategic vision and technical management experience. Since February 2021, he has moved to Shentong Express as a director and general manager to re-lead Shentong.
Mr. Han Yongyan also has a strong professional background, having served as Rotating CEO and Senior Vice President of Debang until 2019, and then transferred to Cainiao Network from April 2019 to January 2020 as General Manager of the Transportation Department. After joining Shentong in March 2020, Mr. Han Yongyan officially served as the director and deputy general manager of Shentong Express in February 2021.
In addition to Wang Wenbin and Han Yongyan, there are five executives whose annual salaries exceed one million. For example, the annual salary of Chairman Chen Dejun is 1.8105 million yuan, the annual salary of director Lu Yao is 1.66 million yuan, and the annual salary of Deputy General Manager Tang Jin is 1.6276 million yuan, and the salary of Deputy General Manager and Financial Director Liang Bo, and Deputy General Manager Xiong Dahai, who left last year, also crossed the million threshold.
