Nowadays, the Majiagou Reservoir can no longer smell the smell of cyanobacteria, and the scenery is beautiful, and it has become an ecological sample of water control in the Western (Chongqing) Science City. This green "butterfly change" is due to the vigorous development of water treatment in recent years, and the ecological security barrier built from water to shore in Science City.

Source management: collective relocation is only to protect the green water
More than 20 years ago, Brother Long and his wife in their 30s were living an ordinary life in Majiagou, when in order to build the reservoir, Brother Long and more than 100 surrounding residents moved from the bottom of the reservoir to the Majiagou Ring Road, and since then they have lived and worked in peace and contentment, but under the peace of life, the hidden dangers of ecology have also been buried.
After the completion of the construction of the reservoir, the population around the reservoir is gradually vigorous, with the change of production and life, a large number of living pollutants, livestock and poultry manure produced by residents around the reservoir, enter the reservoir when it rains, affecting the water quality of Majiagou drinking water source, this problem has become the second round of repeated complaints from the central ecological and environmental protection inspectors.
Especially after 2018, cyanobacteria continued to break out in Majiagou Reservoir, and the risk of water quality deterioration increased, seriously affecting the water quality of drinking water sources.
"When we pass by, we can sometimes smell pollution, and during the flood season, sometimes there will be pollutant flow out of the faucet." Aunt Li, a villager, said.
Allowing the people to drink assured water is the most basic livelihood guarantee and the most urgent livelihood project. In order to control cyanobacteria, since 2020, the Science City High-tech Zone has sought funding and technical support from the Municipal Bureau of Ecology and Environment, first of all, to control the source and relocate within the road around the Majiagou Reservoir, including Brother Long and other villagers.
"We can't live around the reservoir, so we can only move to university towns, Jiangjin and other places." Recalling the life around the reservoir, Brother Long was full of emotion, "Distant relatives are not as good as close neighbors, I used to eat a hundred family banquets, your family's dishes, my family's rice, and the table became a meal, but now, the distance is far away, and the number of meetings is getting less and less." ”
Although the sentiment of "returning to the roots" is deep-rooted, the cleanliness of green water is even more urgent. In less than three months, all the residents within the ring road were relocated.
In addition to nostalgia, Brother Long and they are more anxious that they moved out of the reservoir and left the land, and they have welded their feet in the dirt, how should they move forward in their next life?
In order to solve the follow-up guarantee problem of "what to eat when you move out" for the relocated people, Science City has carried out projects such as strengthening relocation training and employment, industrial support and upgrading, consolidating public services, and social security support, strengthening employment training and helping them solve employment problems.
"After moving out, I worked in the building materials factory in the town, handling raw materials, counting materials, etc., and my monthly income was several thousand." Brother Long said, "After moving here, the surrounding hospitals, parks, and vegetable markets are very close, and life is becoming more and more convenient and happy." ”

"In recent years, Science City has carried out a comprehensive water environment improvement project in the drinking water source protection area of Majiagou Reservoir, prohibiting the stocking of chickens and ducks and other poultry by the river, and investing a large number of fish fry to promote migratory spawning and protect the recovery of fish populations and ecological balance." Seeing the gradual enrichment of fish in the Majiagou Reservoir, Luo Jinrong, the manager of the Majiagou Reservoir, finally gradually stretched his brows.
The problem of biodiversity has been solved, but the problem of eutrophication and cyanobacteria is still the top priority of "drinking a bowl of safe water".

According to the relevant person in charge of the Ecological Environment Bureau, at present, Majiagou is preventing and controlling from the lake to the near shore, establishing a 24-hour automatic monitoring and analysis system for water quality of bloom early warning, establishing a comprehensive prevention and control system of "prevention, blocking, fishing and control" of cyanobacteria, and building a blue-green algae collection network based on monitoring and early warning, fixed salvage, and supplemented by mobile salvage.
At present, Majiagou Reservoir is one of the main sources of domestic water for residents in Science City, which can meet the water supply of 1.1 million people in the Science City area and ensure the normal needs of residents' life and production.
