After trial, it was ascertained that from 2004 to 2021, the defendant Cheng Jiandong took advantage of his position as the director of the Information and Communication Division, the director of the command center, and the deputy director of the Jiangsu Provincial Public Security Department to provide assistance to relevant enterprises and individuals in information equipment procurement, project contracting, product publicity and promotion, etc., and accepted property from others totaling more than 53.35 million yuan.
The Huai'an Intermediate People's Court held that defendant Cheng Jiandong's conduct constituted the crime of accepting bribes. In view of the fact that Cheng Jiandong was able to truthfully confess his crimes after being brought into the case, he took the initiative to confess most of the facts of the bribery crime that the case-handling organs had not yet grasped; Exposing the criminal conduct of others, which is verified to be true upon investigation, constitutes meritorious service; Those who admit guilt and accept punishment may be given a lighter punishment in accordance with law.
